Selling Supplements on TikTok Shop: Access, Lab Reports and Creator Rules

TikTok Shop can move a lot of supplement units through creator videos, but it is not open to everyone. As of October 2026 the category is invite-only, the paperwork is strict, and one creator's claim can take a listing down. Here is what TikTok's own policy pages say.

Short answer

As of October 2026, TikTok Shop treats dietary supplements as an invite-only restricted category in the US. Invited sellers must submit cGMP proof, FDA facility registration if they make, import or repack the product, label photos, and a lab report under 180 days old from an approved lab. Weight management and mental wellness supplements are prohibited, and disease claims by sellers or creators trigger enforcement.

[02] Who Can Sell

Can You Sell Supplements on TikTok Shop in 2026?

Disclosure: Disclosure: Evolve Media Agency sells brand management, creative and TikTok Shop services to supplement brands, and our own prices appear on this page, clearly marked. TikTok does not pay us. One source below is a testing company that sells TikTok verification work, and we label it where it appears. Nothing here is legal advice; for questions about your claims or label, talk to a regulatory attorney.

Yes, but only if TikTok invites you. TikTok Shop's US Dietary Supplements Requirements page, dated October 9, 2026, says eligibility to sell dietary supplements is limited to invite-only sellers and tells sellers to contact their Account Manager. TikTok's Restricted Products Policy, updated October 26, 2026, lists dietary supplements among its invite-only categories alongside items like OTC medications and fresh food.

Once invited, you still have to pass category qualification. That means uploading documents through the Qualification Center in Seller Center, which TikTok's Guide to Category Qualification says usually takes about 6 days to review. You can only have one active application per category at a time, and most rejections come from missing or unclear documents.

Some older summaries, including vendor pages from testing companies, describe the document process without mentioning an invitation. If you read an older guide, check the date. Rules on this page come from TikTok's own US Academy pages, which load without a login, and we give each page's date.

[03] Product Rules

Which Supplements TikTok Shop Allows and Prohibits

TikTok's supplements page lists what invited sellers may sell and what nobody may sell. Two items on the prohibited list surprise brands that already sell on Amazon, where weight management supplements are allowed after lab testing: TikTok Shop bans weight management supplements and mental wellness supplements outright.

Permitted for invited sellers

Beauty supplements, fitness supplements, vitamin, mineral and wellness supplements, herbal supplements, and some sexual wellness supplements under TikTok's separate sexual wellness rules.

Prohibited: weight management

Appetite suppressants, carbohydrate control products, diet shakes, fat burners, weight loss bars and meal replacements.

Prohibited: mental wellness supplements

TikTok lists mental wellness supplements as prohibited. Its listing examples also flag a title like "Anxiety & Stress Relief" for a supplement.

Prohibited: CBD and other cannabinoids

CBD and other hemp- or cannabis-derived cannabinoids are not allowed.

Prohibited: unapproved drug ingredients

TikTok names peptides and GLP-1 agonists as examples, plus anything with hidden drug ingredients, controlled substances or DEA List I chemicals.

Prohibited: products FDA has flagged

Products named in FDA recalls, warning letters or safety alerts, endangered species ingredients, and pure or highly concentrated bulk caffeine.

High-dose rule: TikTok says any listing where one serving exceeds the adult Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL, the most of a nutrient most adults can take daily without risk) set by the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, for a vitamin or mineral whose UL is tied to adverse effects, is frozen without notice. Lowering the serving size on the listing does not fix it. TikTok says only a reformulated product with a new matching certificate of analysis (COA) can be reinstated. Check every vitamin and mineral on your panel against the UL before you apply.
[04] Qualification Documents

Documents and Lab Reports TikTok Shop Asks For

TikTok splits its requirements by who you are. A brand that has its own product made under its name counts as a manufacturer, importer or repacker in most cases, because its name is on the label. A reseller buys finished product from someone else. Check which one your label and invoices support before you apply.

For manufacturers, importers and repackers, TikTok's supplements page asks for proof of FDA food facility registration that matches the manufacturer or importer on the label, proof of cGMP certification (current Good Manufacturing Practice, FDA's manufacturing rules for supplements at 21 CFR Part 111), at least one product lab test report from an approved lab, and clear photos of the real front, back and side labels. Digital mockups and edited label images are not accepted.

Resellers must submit a purchase invoice from the manufacturer or distributor, dated within the last 180 days, showing the same name and address as the selling account and a combined purchase of at least 400 units, plus a lab report from a TikTok accredited partner lab and label photos.

Lab test report ruleTikTok Shop requirement (as of October 2026)
Report ageIssued within the last 180 days
Who can issue itA TikTok Shop accredited partner lab; or, for manufacturers, an in-house ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab with its certificate, or an in-house lab plus a cGMP certificate under 21 CFR 111 or 117
Name matchSame company name and address as the selling account, and products that match the purchase invoice
Required testsMicrobiological, heavy metals, contaminants such as pesticides or residual solvents, and potency or label claim
PotencyEach active per dosage unit must fall within the permitted tolerance range
Sexual enhancement or bodybuildingAlso tested for known adulterants under NSF/ANSI 173-2024

ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration labs. TikTok's list of accredited partner labs includes 13 names: Eurofins, NSF, SGS, UL Solutions, TUV Sud, Merieux NutriSciences, Intertek, Certified Laboratories, QIMA, Bureau Veritas, ACT Lab (part of the Cotecna Group), SGT and API. We name them because TikTok does, not as a recommendation. Several of them also appear on Amazon's list of 8 authorized US testing, inspection and certification (TIC) providers, which our Amazon testing guide covers.

The 180-day window is the part that catches Amazon sellers. Amazon verification runs on its own cycle, while TikTok wants a report under 180 days old when you apply. Merieux NutriSciences, a lab that sells TikTok verification testing, also describes the 180-day rule and the invoice match on its TikTok verification page. That is a vendor page, but on these two points it matches what TikTok's own page says.

Label photos are reviewed against FDA rules. TikTok lists the statement of identity, net quantity, a boxed Supplement Facts panel, other ingredients, allergens, the manufacturer or distributor address, a US adverse event contact, directions, and the FDA disclaimer when the label makes a structure/function claim. Our supplement label requirements and Supplement Facts panel guide cover each one.

[05] Claim Risk

Creator Claim Risk: What Creators Can and Cannot Say

On Amazon, you write the listing. On TikTok Shop, most of the selling happens in videos made by affiliate creators you do not fully control, and TikTok holds both of you to its claim rules. Its Requirements for Responsible Health-Related Content, dated September 2, 2026, bans medical claims for anything that is not an over-the-counter drug, bans high-risk weight loss and muscle gain claims, and bans wellness claims that a product prevents or cures any physical, mental or emotional condition. It adds that exaggerated results and unrealistic transformation timelines are banned even with a disclaimer.

The same page lists prohibited formats that show up constantly in supplement videos: before-and-after photos, doctor or nurse imagery that suggests endorsement, hashtags that imply a medical effect, claims that a product beats prescription treatments, and GLP-1 promotions. On the allowed side, TikTok's own example says a protein powder might be discussed in terms of supporting energy, immunity, skin and hair health, gut balance, stress recovery or bone strength, which lines up with the structure/function framing FDA allows on labels.

Listing claims follow a stricter enforcement path. TikTok's supplements page says a first disease, medical or FDA-approval claim deactivates the listing so you can fix it, and a second violation freezes it until TikTok reviews it. Other supplement violations can cost Account Health Rating points or your access to the category. TikTok's Seller Enforcement Policy adds further actions when that rating falls to 150, 100, 50 and 0 points.

Likely fine in a creator scriptLikely to get flagged
"I take this every morning with breakfast""This fixed my anxiety"
"Supports healthy digestion""Cured my bloating and IBS"
"Contains 5 g of creatine per serving""Gain 20 lbs of muscle fast"
"Tested by a third-party lab" (if true, with the report)"FDA approved" or "FDA certified"
"I like the berry flavor""Works like a GLP-1" or "Ozempic in a gummy"
Showing the label and Supplement FactsBefore-and-after photos or doctor or nurse imagery
The left column is not automatically safe. Every claim still needs support, and our structure/function claims guide explains where FDA draws the line. A regulatory attorney should review your claim list before you hand it to creators.
[06] Endorsement Law

FTC Endorsement Rules for Supplement Creators

TikTok's rules sit on top of federal law. The FTC's Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers says creators must disclose any financial or personal connection to a brand, and that free product counts. In a video, the disclosure should be both said and shown in the video itself, not only in the caption, and in a LIVE stream it should be repeated so late viewers see it. The FTC says platform disclosure tools can help but should not be relied on alone.

The bigger risk for a supplement brand is the claims. The FTC's Health Products Compliance Guidance from December 2022 says health claims need competent and reliable scientific evidence, generally randomized controlled human trials, and that testimonials do not replace that evidence. It also says advertisers are liable for misleading endorsements. The Endorsement Guides at 16 CFR Part 255 add that brands should guide and monitor endorsers and act when they go off script.

The FTC's Endorsement Guides FAQ is direct about health products: it says a network selling health products may need more supervision than one selling fashion, that advertisers should give creators a list of approved claims, and that sending only free product does not take the brand off the hook. For short-lived content like LIVE streams, it suggests pre-approval.

Give every creator a written claim list

List the exact phrases they may use and the ones they may not. Keep it to what your label and evidence support.

Require a spoken and on-screen disclosure

Words like "ad" or "I got this free from the brand" at the start of the video. Vague tags like #partner or #gifted alone are often not enough, per the FTC.

Watch what goes live

Search your brand and product weekly, save the videos, and ask creators to fix or remove problems fast. Document what you did.

Skip dramatic-result testimonials

A creator describing a dramatic change implies most buyers will get it. You need evidence for that, and "results not typical" does not cure it.

[07] Launch Plan

How to Launch a Supplement on TikTok Shop in 9 Steps

1

Check the product against TikTok's lists

Confirm your supplement is in a permitted group, is not a weight management or mental wellness product, and that no vitamin or mineral per serving exceeds its adult UL.

2

Fix the label for TikTok's review

Make sure the printed label has every element TikTok lists, including the FDA disclaimer if you make a structure/function claim and a US adverse event contact. Our label design checklist helps.

3

Get a fresh lab report

Order finished-product testing that covers microbes, heavy metals, contaminants and potency from a lab TikTok accepts, timed so the report is under 180 days old when you apply. Read it first with our COA guide.

4

Gather manufacturing proof

Ask your manufacturer for its current cGMP certificate under 21 CFR Part 111 and its FDA food facility registration, and make sure the names match your label.

5

Open the shop and get invited

Set up TikTok Shop Seller Center, complete onboarding and ask your Account Manager about an invitation to the supplements category. New shops start in TikTok's probation program; its probation page lists the Beginner tier at 50 orders a day and 100 products.

6

Apply in the Qualification Center

Go to My Account, Account Settings, Qualification Center, Category Qualification, and upload everything at once. If rejected, read the reason, fix the documents and resubmit.

7

Build a claim-safe listing

Write the title, images and description with no disease, weight loss or FDA-approval language. Our TikTok Shop listing guide covers the format.

8

Brief creators before you send samples

Send a claim list, the disclosure rule and two or three example scripts with every sample. Our creator affiliate guide covers how to recruit them.

9

Monitor videos and account health weekly

Review new creator videos, check your Account Health page, and calendar your lab report's 180-day mark so a new report is ready before you need it.

[08] Channel Order

When to Add TikTok Shop After Amazon

For most supplement brands, Amazon comes first and TikTok Shop comes second. Amazon's verification forces you to collect cGMP proof, label photos and, in five categories, lab results, and most of that is the same paperwork TikTok asks for. Brands that have cleared Amazon arrive at TikTok with their documents mostly ready. Our supplement launch guide walks through the Amazon side, and our TikTok Shop vs Amazon guide compares the two channels for any new brand.

TikTok also adds risks Amazon does not. Creator content can break the rules on your behalf, the category requires an invitation, and the lab report has a 180-day clock. That is why we suggest adding TikTok once the Amazon listing is stable, the formula and label are final, and you have a claim-checked creator script.

Add TikTok Shop now if

You have an Account Manager invitation, a lab report under 180 days old, a permitted product and a written creator claim list.

Wait if

Your Amazon verification is still open, your label may change, or you have no time to watch creator videos every week.

Skip TikTok Shop if

Your product is a weight management or mental wellness supplement, contains CBD or a peptide, or depends on claims TikTok bans.

[09] Do It Yourself or Hire

When to Get Help vs Run TikTok Shop Yourself

You can apply for the supplements category yourself. The forms are in Seller Center, TikTok's policy pages are public, and your manufacturer and lab supply most of the documents. If you have one product, fresh test results and the time to brief and watch creators, keep the money and do it yourself.

Help makes sense when TikTok Shop is a second channel on top of a working Amazon business. Running both means one set of claims, one label, two sets of documents, creator management and ad spend across two platforms. That is the kind of cross-channel work a brand manager handles, and it is easy to underestimate.

How Evolve helps. Evolve is a husband-and-wife team, Ian and Megan Smith, backed by AI agents and based in Colorado. Ian founded Evolve in 2017 and has sold on Amazon since 2015. Our in-house test brand, Bear Basics, sells on Shopify, Amazon and TikTok Shop, so we work inside these same rules, and our supplement clients include Liquid Health and Purely Optimal. Through brand management we run Amazon and TikTok Shop together: Brand Support is 5 hours for $750 a month, Brand Manager is 10 hours for $1,250, Brand Manager Plus is 20 hours for $2,000, and Full Brand Management is 40 hours for $3,600, paid upfront and month to month. UGC video is $495, or $1,295 for a 3-pack, and product video starts at $395. See all prices on our pricing page.

We do not run lab tests, prepare compliance documents, find manufacturers or give legal advice. We write creator claim lists and scripts, build listings and coordinate the channel. For the bigger picture, see our brand management for supplement brands page and the supplement brand marketing hub. You can email Ian at [email protected] or call or text 719-257-3557.

[12] FAQ

Common Questions

Can I sell supplements on TikTok Shop?
Only if TikTok invites you. As of October 2026, TikTok Shop's US Dietary Supplements Requirements say the category is limited to invite-only sellers, and its Restricted Products Policy lists supplements as invite-only. Once invited, you apply through the Qualification Center with cGMP proof, label photos and a recent lab report. Ask your Account Manager about an invitation.
What lab test does TikTok Shop require for supplements?
A product test report issued within the last 180 days by a lab TikTok accepts, matching your account's company name and address. It must cover microbiological testing, heavy metals, contaminants such as pesticides or residual solvents, and potency. Sexual enhancement and bodybuilding products also need adulterant testing under NSF/ANSI 173-2024.
What supplements are banned on TikTok Shop?
TikTok prohibits weight management supplements such as fat burners and appetite suppressants, mental wellness supplements, CBD and other cannabinoids, products with unapproved drug ingredients like peptides or GLP-1 agonists, products named in FDA recalls or warning letters, and pure bulk caffeine. Listings where one serving exceeds the adult upper limit for a vitamin or mineral whose limit is tied to adverse effects are frozen.
How long does TikTok Shop supplement approval take?
TikTok's Guide to Category Qualification says most applications are reviewed in about 6 days, though it can vary. That clock starts only after you are invited and submit complete documents. Getting a fresh lab report and matching paperwork usually takes longer than the review itself.
Do TikTok creators have to disclose free supplement samples?
Yes. The FTC says free product is a material connection that must be disclosed. In a video the disclosure should be said and shown on screen, not only placed in the caption, and repeated during LIVE streams. The brand is also expected to train and monitor creators, so put the disclosure rule in every creator brief.
Can creators say a supplement helps with anxiety or weight loss?
No. TikTok bans high-risk weight loss claims, wellness claims that a product prevents or cures a condition, and medical claims for non-drug products. It lists mental wellness and weight management supplements as prohibited outright. Keep creators to structure/function language your label supports, like supporting energy or digestion.
Should I launch my supplement on Amazon or TikTok Shop first?
For most brands, Amazon first. Amazon's verification gathers most of the documents TikTok asks for, and a stable Amazon listing gives you a finished label and claim set before creators start talking about it. Add TikTok Shop once you have an invitation, a lab report under 180 days old and a claim-checked creator brief.
Can Evolve Media run TikTok Shop for my supplement brand?
Yes, as part of brand management from $750 a month for 5 hours up to $3,600 for 40 hours, paid upfront and month to month. We write claim-safe listings, creator briefs and scripts, and make UGC video in house from $495. We do not run lab tests or give legal advice. Email [email protected] or call or text 719-257-3557.
