[01] Beauty and Skincare Brand Marketing

Marketing for Skincare and Beauty Brands, Run by People Who Sell Skincare Themselves

Photography that shows texture and skin, video and UGC that survive TikTok's beauty compliance filters, Amazon listings and A+ written inside cosmetic claim rules, and email flows built around replenishment. We own a personal-care brand on Amazon, Shopify, and TikTok Shop, so every method here has been used on our own products first.

[02] Creative

Beauty Sells on Texture, Skin, and Trust. Shoot for All Three.

Photography: the product, the texture, the skin

White-background packshots for the main image, macro texture and swatch shots that show what the product actually is, and on-skin application with models who match the buyer. Beauty listings with a strong image stack outperform ones with a beautiful bottle and nothing else. Photography from $295 on the pricing page; image order in the listing image stack guide.

Infographics and A+: ingredients, not adjectives

What is in it, what is not in it, how to use it, and who it is for. Ingredient callouts, free-from lists you can substantiate, and usage steps convert in beauty; "luxurious" and "radiant" do not. Graphic design from $295, A+ modules from $495. Guide: A+ Content.

Video and UGC: application on camera

Beauty is the category where the customer wants to watch someone use it. Product video from $395 and UGC review video at $495, with presenters cast to the buyer and a claim list they cannot cross. Amazon rejects beauty video for outcome claims in audio; TikTok flags them faster.

What we will not shoot

Before-and-after outcome imagery that implies a cosmetic treats a condition, "clinical" language without the study, and anything that turns a cosmetic into a drug claim. That is the line between a listing that ranks and one that gets suppressed.

[03] TikTok Shop

Beauty Is TikTok Shop's Biggest Category, and Its Most Flagged

Skincare and personal care get restricted for claims faster than any category we sell in. We know because our own listings and videos have been flagged, appealed, and rewritten.

1

Compliance review before listing

Our TikTok Shop Launch Setup ($995) includes a claim review of every listing and video before it goes live. For beauty, that means no treatment or healing language, no "antibacterial," no unsubstantiated "organic" or "natural" qualifiers, and allergen disclosure where an ingredient needs it.

2

Creator program built for beauty

Beauty creators are the highest-volume affiliates on the platform and the easiest to lose money on with samples. Our Creator Program Build ($795) includes the sample scorecard and the commission math, so free product goes to creators who post. Free method: the creator affiliate guide.

3

A face on the account

Beauty shops with a founder or host on camera several times a week outperform creator-only shops. Our LIVE Show Kit ($595) gives you the run-of-show, the offer ladder, and a coached first session. Start with the TikTok Shop launch guide.

4

Inventory sync that does not zero your stock

If you sell on Shopify, the TikTok sync can wipe inventory on a SKU mismatch. We hit it on our own shop. A SKU audit is now step one of every launch.

[04] Amazon

Cosmetic Claims, Category Rules, and the Meltable Problem

Listings written as cosmetics

A cosmetic cleanses, beautifies, or alters appearance. The moment copy says it treats, cures, or prevents, it is a drug claim and Amazon suppresses it. Titles, bullets, and A+ are written on the cosmetic side of that line with keywords that still rank. Listing copy is $495 via the listing optimization service.

Beauty category economics

Beauty referral fees, Subscribe and Save behavior, and the main-image rules differ from general categories, and beauty listings live or die on the image stack and review count. The main image guide and the Subscribe and Save playbook cover the levers.

Meltable products and the FBA calendar

Balms, butters, and some lotions are classified as meltable and can only be in FBA from late September through April. Our own tallow and coconut products are. The plan for those months is Shopify and TikTok Shop, and the Amazon return date is on the calendar in September.

Launch and PPC

Beauty launches need reviews fast and ads on the right terms from day one. Launch Roadmap $995, Full Launch Package $2,495, PPC management $995 a month, all with the beauty claim list applied to ad copy and video.

[05] Email and Retention

Replenishment Is the Beauty Business Model

Flows timed to the empty bottle

Welcome, post-purchase usage tips, a replenishment reminder timed to your product's use-up window, and win-back. Built in Klaviyo, Brevo, or Omnisend on the email marketing service. The five flows are in the email flows guide.

Bundles and routines

Beauty buyers buy routines. Bundle structure with tiered discounts, and the checks that keep bundles from silently going offline when one component sells out, are part of the store work. We run 15 bundles on our own brand.

An audience TikTok cannot take away

Shop-linked TikTok accounts cannot link out. The email list and the free-resource hub are the assets that survive an algorithm change. We build the bridge on every beauty brand's site.

[06] Proof

We Sell Skincare. Here Is What That Taught Us.

Bear Basics: our own personal-care brand

A Colorado Springs family brand: unscented, four to five ingredients, water-free, tallow or coconut oil base. Deodorant, lip balm, body balm sticks, body bar tins. Twelve SKUs live on Shopify, TikTok Shop, and Amazon FBA with Brand Registry. Every compliance rule, sync fix, and content format on this page came from running it. Read the Bear Basics TikTok Shop case study.

Compliance learned the hard way

Restricted listings, flagged videos, and a Creator Rewards disqualification taught us the beauty claim rules on TikTok better than any policy page. The review checklist we sell exists because we needed it.

Client work across creative and storefronts

Photography, video, listings, brand storefronts, and email for consumer brands since the agency was founded in 2017. Fifteen named client quotes are on the case studies page.

What we are not claiming

No aggregate conversion lift for beauty clients, and no sales figures for our own brand until we have twelve months of clean data. Named quotes and the build-in-public case study are the evidence.

[07] FAQ

Beauty and Skincare Marketing Questions

Disclosure: this page packages services we sell for one industry, and we own a competing personal-care brand. If your product overlaps directly with ours, say so on the call and we will tell you whether that is a conflict.
Do you charge more for beauty brands?
No. Same prices as the pricing page and the same fixed blocks. The claim review and the beauty-specific shot list are part of how we work in the category.
What can a skincare product claim?
Cosmetic claims: cleanses, moisturizes, beautifies, changes appearance. Not treats, cures, heals, or prevents, which are drug claims. "Natural," "organic," and "clean" need substantiation or certification depending on the platform. We write on the cosmetic side and keep a banned list per product.
Can you shoot before-and-after photos?
We can shoot the product on skin and show application. We do not shoot outcome comparisons that imply a cosmetic treated a condition, because that is the imagery that gets listings suppressed and accounts flagged.
Is TikTok Shop worth it for a small skincare brand?
It is the category's biggest growth channel and the one with the most compliance friction. If the product is under about $60 and someone will be on camera, yes. The launch guide has the fee math; the launch block includes the claim review.
My product melts. Can I still sell on Amazon?
Yes, seasonally through FBA (late September to April for meltable classifications), or year-round via merchant fulfillment or Multi-Channel Fulfillment from a climate-controlled warehouse. We plan around it for our own brand and will plan it for yours.
Do you build the Shopify store too?
Yes. Store builds are on the web development page, and Shopify CRO for existing stores is a separate service. Beauty stores get the routine-bundle structure and replenishment flows as part of the build.
Will you work with a brand that competes with Bear Basics?
Usually. Most beauty brands do not overlap with unscented tallow personal care. If yours does, we say so on the first call and let you decide.
