Here is every number and the math at 15 hours, 30 hours and full time.

On October 22, 2026, we loaded the rate or pricing page of nine places a brand would go to buy part-time marketing help. They were two fractional CMO networks (Go Fractional, Chameleon Collective), two vetted talent networks (MarketerHire, Toptal), one agency (Digital Authority Partners), two open marketplaces (Upwork, FreeUp) and two firms that sell a monthly plan, ourselves included. A fractional CMO is a senior marketer who works for you part time, usually a set number of hours or days a month, instead of as a full-time employee. For each source we recorded the published hourly or monthly rate, the hours it buys, and the contract terms we could see.
For the full-time comparison we used two Bureau of Labor Statistics tables. The Occupational Outlook Handbook (page updated August 27, 2026) puts the May 2025 median pay for advertising, promotions and marketing managers at $165,780 a year, or $79.70 an hour. The Employer Costs for Employee Compensation release for June 2026 (published September 9, 2026) shows private employers paying $46.89 an hour in total compensation, of which $32.82 is wages and $14.07 is benefits. Dividing total by wages gives a loaded-cost multiplier of about 1.43.
Digital Authority Partners $350; Go Fractional's ecommerce CMO average $205 (alongside a monthly floor); Upwork profiles $65 to $220; FreeUp marketers $35 to $75.
Websults $1,250, $2,500 and $4,000 for up to 5, 12 and 20 hours; Evolve $1,495 for about 15 hours. Go Fractional also publishes a $5,000 monthly floor.
MarketerHire (month to month, two-week refundable trial), Toptal (trial up to two weeks, not billed if unsatisfied) and Chameleon Collective (typically one to three days a week).
Every figure below uses published rates or the federal data above, and every line is an example. The full-time line assumes 2,080 paid hours a year (40 hours times 52 weeks) and the BLS benefits ratio; real loaded cost also includes recruiting, equipment and software, which we left out, so the true figure is higher.
The price gap between these options is mostly a seniority and execution gap. A $205 to $350 an hour fractional CMO decides what to do and directs people; a $35 to $100 an hour expert or freelancer does the work. Pick by the job you need done this quarter, not by the title, and the cheapest option that does that job is the right one.
Go Fractional (from $5,000 a month, about 29 hours) or Digital Authority Partners ($350 an hour). Both are the better pick over us when the job is directing people and budgets rather than doing the work.
MarketerHire offers a two-week trial and Toptal a trial of up to two weeks. If you cannot judge a marketer without watching them work, start there.
FreeUp at $35 to $75 an hour or an Upwork freelancer. Cheaper than any monthly plan when the tasks are clear and you can manage them.
Websults ($1,250 to $4,000 for 5 to 20 hours) or Evolve ($1,495 for about 15). Websults is a general small-business offer; ours is ecommerce only.
Evolve's Part-Time Ecommerce Marketing Expert: about 15 hours of hands-on ecommerce work a month for $1,495, cancel any month. We are the better pick when you need the work done by someone who knows the channels, at a price under one week of a full-time hire.
Hire full time. At about $19,740 a month loaded for a median marketing manager, a full-time person beats every senior hourly rate here once you pass roughly 60 to 100 hours a month.
A part-time marketer hired to "help with marketing" spends the hours finding out what you want. Write the three outcomes and the number you will judge them by before you book any call.
If conversion is below your category because of the images, price or reviews, no marketer fixes that with strategy. Fix the listing first.
Even $1,495 a month is a large share of margin at that size. Use the free guides on this site and come back when the numbers carry it.
Rankings, revenue and ad results depend on your category and product. Anyone promising a number is setting it low or planning to cut spend to hit it.
Fractional means part time. If the work is 40 hours a week of ads, email and content, an agency retainer or a full-time hire is the better answer. Our guide to the first ops hire versus an agency walks through that choice.
Websults, Go Fractional and Evolve state hours. If the answer is "as needed," you cannot compare the price.
At Evolve they roll one month forward. Ask everyone else, because unused hours are where a retainer quietly gets more expensive.
Evolve sells 5-hour blocks at $495. A provider without a stated overage rate can bill whatever the busy month needs.
A $350-an-hour CMO who directs your team is a different purchase from a $100-an-hour expert who builds the email flow.
MarketerHire and Evolve say month to month; Websults does not state a term. Get it in writing.
MarketerHire offers a refundable two-week trial and Toptal does not bill an unsatisfying trial. Evolve has no trial; you can cancel after any month.
