Black Friday Video Ads You Can Still Make In 7 Days

The September shoot window is gone and Amazon's deal deadline passed on October 20. You can still build a full set of Black Friday video ads from footage you already own. This is the seven-day plan, with the platform rules that decide what each cut is allowed to say.

Quick Answer

Yes, you can still make Black Friday video ads, as long as you build them from footage you already have. Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, and Cyber Monday is November 30. Spend seven days cutting what you own: day 1, gather every clip and check you have paid-ad rights to it; day 2, write three hooks per hero product; day 3, cut 15- to 30-second masters with no price or discount on screen; day 4, add offer overlays as a separate layer for Meta, TikTok and your Shopify store only; day 5, build the 16:9 Sponsored Brands video and the 9:16 TikTok and Reels versions; days 6 and 7, submit, fix rejections and start small tests. The Amazon versions must stay clean: Amazon prohibits deals, discounts and savings promotions inside Sponsored Brands video, and it asks advertisers to submit ads at least one week before launch. Finish by early November and you still have about three weeks to learn which hook works before traffic peaks.

The shoot window for Black Friday closed weeks ago. The editing window is still open, and for most brands it is the one that decides the result.

In September we published the BFCM creative calendar, which assumed a September shoot, an October testing window and a late-October change freeze. If you are reading this on October 25 without new footage, that plan has expired. This one starts from what you have on your hard drive today and ends with tested video ads running on Amazon, Meta and TikTok before Black Friday Week. It is deliberately narrow: no new shoot, no new products, seven working days.

Disclosure

Evolve Media Agency sells video editing and production, including an Amazon Ad Cut Pack built for exactly this situation, so we have an interest in you hiring someone. Section 12 covers when you should do the cuts yourself, which for many brands is the right call. Platform rules below were checked against Amazon Ads and TikTok help pages on October 15, 2026. Meta's help pages block automated checks, so Meta rules are described from third-party sources and labeled that way.

The plan has one rule that shapes every other decision: the Amazon cuts carry no price, no discount and no deal language, and the off-Amazon cuts carry the offer as a removable layer. Get that split right on day 3 and the rest of the week is assembly.

01/12 Section

What You Can Still Make Before Black Friday

You can still make three to five short video ads per hero product, for every platform you sell on, as long as the raw material already exists. What you cannot do in this window is plan a shoot, cast talent, ship samples and test the results before peak. The math decides it.

Nov 27 and Nov 30Black Friday and Cyber MondayWatch spend and stock. Do not swap creative mid-event

The 2025 dates come from Amazon's own announcement, which put Black Friday Week deals live from November 20 through Cyber Monday on December 1. Amazon had not published 2026 event dates when we checked on October 15. If it follows the same pattern, the event opens around November 20, which puts the safe Amazon submission date around November 13. Build the plan around that date and adjust when Amazon announces.

Seven days is the ceiling. A brand with one hero product and a decent listing video can finish in three. A brand with ten products should pick the three that carry most of the Black Friday revenue and stop there.

02/12 Section

The Deadlines That Already Passed

Two Amazon deadlines that shape Black Friday creative are already behind you, and both change what your ads are allowed to say.

Amazon's deal submission window for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday closed on October 20, 2026, according to Amazon's published Q4 dates as reported by EcomCrew. FBA inventory had to ship by October 21 for minimal shipment splits, and the cutoff for Amazon-optimized splits is October 28. If you did not submit a deal, you will not have a Lightning Deal or Best Deal running on Black Friday, and that matters for creative because of one Amazon Ads rule: you can only use the words "Deal" or "Deals" in your ads if your products have an Amazon deal live for the full length of the campaign.

The Part That Works In Your Favor

Sponsored Brands video cannot show deals, discounts or savings promotions at all, even for brands that did submit a deal. So brands that missed the deal deadline lose nothing on the video side. Every brand's Amazon video has to sell the product itself. You can still run Prime Exclusive Discounts and coupons where your account allows them, which our deals, coupons and PED framework covers.

The September plan also assumed a late-October change freeze. That freeze is a planning choice. Amazon does not require it. For brands that missed it, the workable rule is narrower: finish new creative before mid-November, then stop changing ads while Black Friday Week runs.

03/12 Section

Day 1: Inventory The Footage You Own

Most brands own more usable footage than they think, scattered across old shoots, creator deliveries and phone clips. Day 1 is a one-hour sweep to find it, then a rights check before anything gets cut.

SourceWhat It Usually Gives YouCheck Before Using
Current listing videoA clean demo, scale shots, captions already timedMusic license covers paid advertising
Raw files from past shootsB-roll, hero motion shots, alternate takes nobody usedYou have the raw files as well as the edit
Creator or UGC videosTalking hooks, reactions, unboxingsThe contract grants paid usage and the term covers December
Founder or team phone clipsBehind-the-scenes, packing orders, product close-upsImage quality holds up at full screen on a phone
Customer-submitted videosReal use in real homesWritten permission for advertising use. Without it, skip

Drop everything into one folder per product and name each clip by what it shows: "hero-pour," "scale-hand," "unbox-01."

The rights column is where last-minute plans fail. A creator video licensed for organic posting cannot run as a paid ad without a paid usage grant. A track licensed for a listing video may not cover advertising. Send those emails today and edit around the clips that are already cleared. If a creator cannot confirm paid rights by day 4, drop the clip.

04/12 Section

Day 2: Write Three Hooks Per Product

A hook is the first one to three seconds of the ad, and in a compressed test window it is the only variable worth testing. Write three per hero product, each built from footage you found on day 1.

Most Black Friday ads open the same way: a logo, a "Black Friday Sale" card, a percentage. That opening says nothing about the product, and on Amazon the discount cannot appear in the video anyway. Open on the product doing something instead.

  • The result hook. Open on the finished outcome: the clean surface, the full cup, the organized drawer. Pick the shot your reviews praise most often.
  • The problem hook. Open on the frustration the product solves, then cut to the product within two seconds. Your one- to three-star reviews of competitors are the script.
  • The scale or detail hook. Open on the product in a hand or a close-up of the feature buyers ask about. This works well for gift buyers, who are guessing at size and quality for someone else.

Write each hook as one line of on-screen text plus one shot name from your folder. "Fits in a coat pocket" plus "scale-hand." That is the entire brief for day 3. If no clip proves the line, change the line.

Definition

A cut-down is a shorter ad edited from existing longer footage, such as a 15-second ad cut from a 45-second listing video. Cut-downs are the fastest way to produce new video ads because the expensive parts, the shoot and the talent, are already paid for.

05/12 Section

Day 3: Cut Clean Masters

Day 3 produces the masters: one clean edit per hook, per product, with no price, discount, date or deal language anywhere in the frame. Every platform version later in the week starts from these files.

Cut the landscape master first if your footage is landscape, since the vertical version is a center crop. If the footage is vertical, cut vertical first. Do not pad vertical footage with blurred bars to make it landscape. Amazon's Sponsored Brands video spec page tells advertisers to avoid black, colored or blurred bars.

master A hook 1 + demo + product end card, 15s master B hook 2 + same demo + end card, 15s master C hook 3 + same demo + end card, 15s long cut best hook + extra proof, 25-30s captions burned in, 3-7 words, one per shot audio licensed track, no spoken prices on screen no %, no $, no dates, no "deal" # Same middle and end, three openings: the test isolates the hook.

Keep the middle and the end identical across the three masters. If each version has a different demo and a different end card, a winning ad tells you nothing about why it won. Changing only the opening turns the test into a clean read on the hook, which is the decision you need before Black Friday.

End on the product, held long enough to read the brand name. Amazon lists black or blank frames at the start or end of a video, and endings cut off abruptly at the maximum length, among common rejection reasons. Leave a half-second of the product on screen after the last caption.

Export each master as MP4 (H.264) at 1920x1080 or 1080x1920. Our Amazon video specs cheat sheet lists the limits for every placement.

06/12 Section

Day 4: Offer Overlays By Platform

An offer overlay belongs only on the platforms that allow it, and on Amazon it mostly does not. Day 4 adds the Black Friday offer as a separate layer to copies of the masters for Meta, TikTok and your own site, and leaves the Amazon files alone.

PlacementCan The Video Show The Offer? The Rule
Amazon Sponsored Brands videoNoAmazon's moderation guide says videos cannot include deals, discounts or other savings promotions, or urgent language meant to pressure a click
Amazon Sponsored Brands headlineGeneral savings wording onlyNo specific pricing like "Save 50%" or "$20 off." Phrases like "Savings on [Product]" are allowed. "Deal" requires a live Amazon deal
TikTok adsYes, if it matches the landing pageTikTok's policy rejects ads where the discount differs from the site, such as "up to 50% off" in the ad and "up to 30% off" on the page
Meta adsYes, if it is real and accurateMeta reviews ads for misleading claims. Match the landing page exactly
Your Shopify storeYesYour rules, plus the FTC's rules on truthful pricing claims

Build the overlay as two pieces on top of the master: a slim offer banner in the top third and a final card after the product end frame. The master underneath stays untouched, so you can switch the offer on Cyber Monday or remove it on December 1 without re-editing.

Write the offer the way it will appear on the landing page, word for word. If the site says "up to 40% off sitewide," the ad says exactly that. TikTok's misleading content policy names that exact mismatch as a rejection reason, and the same mismatch is what makes shoppers bounce on every platform.

In this window, build two states per ad: live offer and clean. On Amazon, the clean version is the only version.

07/12 Section

Day 5: The Sponsored Brands Video Cut

The Sponsored Brands video cut is the clean 15-second master with a few Amazon-specific adjustments. Brand Registry is required to run Sponsored Brands, so brands outside it should skip to section 8.

Sponsored Brands Video, Checked Oct 15, 2026 Amazon Ads
Length
6 To 45 Seconds

Amazon's spec page highly recommends 20 seconds or less. Its getting-started guide calls 15 to 30 seconds optimal. Your 15-second masters fit both.

Frame
16:9 Is The Safe Choice

The spec page lists 16:9 only. Amazon's getting-started guide says 9:16 vertical is supported. Upload 16:9 first and try vertical if your console accepts it.

Text
Large, And Off The Lower Right

The mute toggle sits in the lower right corner. Keep captions and the product out of it. Text must be big enough for the average shopper to read.

File
MP4 Or MOV, Under 500 MB

H.264 or H.265, 1920x1080 is standard, progressive scan, 23.976 to 30 fps. Videos autoplay muted, so captions carry the message.

Three mistakes show up most in holiday Sponsored Brands videos. A "Black Friday" title card with a percentage, which is a savings promotion. A countdown or "ends tonight" line, which reads as the urgent language Amazon prohibits. And a review quote or star graphic, which Amazon bans even when the reviews are on Amazon.

Amazon's moderation guide suggests pre-moderating creative assets: upload them to your asset library, submit them for moderation, and pull approved assets into campaigns later. Do that on day 5 even if campaigns launch next week. It turns a launch-day rejection into a fix you make while you still have time. Our Sponsored Brands Video guide covers targeting and bidding once the creative is approved.

08/12 Section

Day 5: The TikTok And Reels Cuts

The TikTok and Reels versions are vertical 9:16 copies of the overlay masters, reframed so nothing important sits under the app's buttons and captions. They take less time than the Amazon cut because the rules are looser.

  • Reframe every shot. Check every shot after the center crop. A hand or product that sat at the edge of the landscape frame disappears in vertical.
  • Keep text in the middle. Billo, a creator platform, reports that Meta moved to one shared 9:16 safe zone for Reels and Stories in March 2026 and advises keeping text out of the top 14 percent and the bottom 35 percent of the frame. That is a vendor's reading of Meta's guidance, so confirm it with the safe zone overlay in Ads Manager. TikTok's in-feed specs say its safe zone depends on aspect ratio and caption length and provide downloadable safe zone files.
  • TikTok prefers vertical. TikTok's in-feed ad specs list 9:16 as recommended, with 16:9 and 1:1 also accepted, files up to 500 MB.
  • Make it look native. On TikTok and Reels, a polished brand edit reads as an ad and gets skipped. The creator and phone clips from day 1 often beat the studio footage here.
  • Run creator clips from the creator's handle. If your best clip came from a creator, a Spark Ad or Meta Partnership Ad usually outperforms posting it from your brand page. That needs the creator's authorization, so ask on day 1. Our Spark Ads and creator whitelisting comparison covers how each works.

Export one named file per platform, even when two look identical, so you always know which overlay is running where.

Days 6 And 7: Submit, Fix, Launch

Days 6 and 7 are for review queues and rejections, which is why they get two full days. Submit everything on the morning of day 6, then spend the rest of the window fixing what comes back.

PlatformReview TimeWhere That Comes From
Amazon Sponsored BrandsNo published hours. Submit at least one week before launchAmazon Ads moderation guide
TikTokMost ads within 24 hours, sometimes longerTikTok Ads Help Center, Ad Review FAQ
MetaCommonly reported as within a dayThird-party guides; Meta's help pages could not be checked

Amazon's one-week guidance includes time for resubmission, and that is the part to protect. Amazon's moderation guide lists the common video rejections: illegible text, black or blank frames at the start or end, abrupt endings and unsubstantiated claims.

Launch on day 7 with small, even budgets across the three hooks for each product. The goal before Black Friday Week is a ranking of hooks. Profit comes after. Read click-through rate first, then cost per purchase once there are enough purchases to compare. Our Meta creative testing system covers how long to run each test before judging it.

When the winner is clear, move budget to it and pause the others. Keep them, since the second-best hook can return as a fresh variation on Cyber Monday. Do not launch brand-new creative after Black Friday Week starts, when it would compete for the most expensive clicks of the year with no data behind it.

10/12 Section

Amazon Black Friday Wording Rules

Amazon Ads publishes specific rules for when an ad can say "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday," and they apply to the copy around your video even though the video itself stays clean. The rules come from Amazon's Black Friday and Cyber Monday advertising guide.

  • "Black Friday only" means 24 hours. An offer described that way should last one day.
  • "Black Friday Week" or "Black Friday" covers about seven days running across Black Friday. "Black Friday weekend" covers about three days. "Cyber Monday Week" covers about seven days running across or starting on Cyber Monday.
  • The deal must be live when the ad is live. Amazon's guide says deal teasing is not permitted. A pre-event ad promising savings that have not started yet gets rejected.
  • Holiday promotions start close to the event and end within 24 hours after it, or a reasonable time after that, per the moderation guide.
  • Brand Store sales events start no more than seven days before the event, and Amazon asks for a Store to be submitted at least 48 hours ahead of its scheduled start.
Check The Dates On The Page

The example date windows in Amazon's guide, such as November 17 to 28 for Black Friday Week, line up with an earlier year's calendar. Read them as lengths of time around the event and apply them to November 27 and November 30, 2026. Amazon's console and its current policy pages are the final word.

For a brand without an Amazon deal, the simplest compliant setup is a clean video, a headline about the product and no event language. Shoppers already know it is Black Friday.

11/12 Section

No Footage At All? Three Fallbacks

If day 1 turns up nothing usable, you still have options, but each has a cost in quality or time. In order of speed:

Amazon's video generator. Amazon Ads offers a free AI tool in Creative Studio that builds Sponsored Brands video ads from a product image or video and the details on your product page, with text animation, music, and editable headlines, fonts and logo placement. Amazon's launch note says it can produce up to six 15-second ads and is in open beta in the US and eight other marketplaces. The output is template-driven. It will not beat a good cut of real footage, but it costs nothing to try on one ASIN.

A one-afternoon phone shoot. For a product with an obvious demo, a recent phone, a window, a tripod and a clean table produce usable footage in a few hours. Shoot landscape with the product centered and a little room around it, so the vertical crop works. Our step-by-step product video guide covers the setup. Then run the seven-day plan on that footage, starting at day 2.

Creator content. This is the slowest of the three, because creators need product shipped, a brief, filming time and a revision. Most UGC services, ours included, quote several weeks from brief to delivery. Ordered today, it lands too late to test before Black Friday. Order it anyway if you want fresh creative for December and the post-holiday period, which our Q5 strategy guide covers.

A clean 15-second cut of footage you already own, tested for three weeks, will beat a beautiful new video that goes live untested on Black Friday.
The rule behind this plan
12/12 Section

Do The Cuts Yourself Or Hire Them

Most of this plan is editing, and plenty of brands should do it themselves. We sell this work, so weigh our view accordingly.

  • You have someone who edits. If anyone on the team is comfortable in CapCut, Premiere or Resolve, this is a week of their time and the results stay in-house for next year.
  • Your listing converts poorly. A video ad sends shoppers to the listing. If the listing loses them, fix the images and bullets first. More traffic to a weak page costs more than it earns.
  • Your ad budget is small. Video ads need enough spend to compare hooks. If you spend under about $1,000 a month on Amazon ads, a Sponsored Products campaign with strong images is usually the better use of the money this season.
  • You only need one cut. A single Sponsored Brands video from a clean listing video is an hour of trimming and captions.

Hiring makes sense when you need many cuts across Amazon, Meta and TikTok in the same week, when nobody on the team edits, or when the rejection risk on Amazon is costing you launch days. Our Amazon video ads service includes an Ad Cut Pack: three Sponsored Brands cuts from footage you already own, captioned, with three different hooks, for $295, delivered in five business days. If you need new footage, listing videos start at $395 for a 20-second video and $695 for 30 seconds in a lifestyle scene. Current prices are always on the pricing page.

Whichever route you take, do day 2 yourself. You know which doubts your customers raise. An editor working from a vague brief makes three nice cuts with three weak hooks, and the hook is the thing this test is built to find.

Key Takeaways

What To Remember

  • Black Friday 2026 is November 27 and Cyber Monday is November 30; a seven-day build that starts October 25 leaves about three weeks to test hooks before peak.
  • Amazon prohibits deals, discounts and savings promotions inside Sponsored Brands video, so the Amazon cut must be a clean master with no price, percentage or deal language.
  • Amazon asks advertisers to submit ads at least one week before launch to allow for review and resubmission, and suggests pre-moderating assets in the asset library.
  • Amazon's deal submission window for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday 2026 closed on October 20, and the word "Deal" can only appear in ads for products with a live Amazon deal.
  • Build three masters per product with the same middle and end and three different hooks, so the test tells you which opening works.
  • Add the offer as a removable overlay for Meta, TikTok and your own site only, worded exactly as the landing page states it; TikTok rejects ads whose discount does not match the page.
  • Amazon's own pages disagree on vertical Sponsored Brands video: the spec page lists 16:9 only and the getting-started guide says 9:16 is supported, so upload 16:9 first.

Questions

Twelve questions brands ask when Black Friday is a month away and the ads are not ready.
Is it too late to make Black Friday video ads?

Not if you build them from footage you already own. Black Friday 2026 is November 27. A seven-day editing plan that starts in late October leaves about three weeks to test hooks before Black Friday Week. What is too late is a new shoot with casting, product shipping and editing, because it would go live untested during the most expensive weeks of the year.

When is Black Friday 2026?

Black Friday is Friday, November 27, 2026, the day after Thanksgiving on November 26. Cyber Monday is November 30, 2026. Amazon had not announced its 2026 Black Friday Week dates as of October 15. In 2025, Amazon ran Black Friday Week deals from November 20 through Cyber Monday on December 1, so a similar window is likely.

Can I show a discount in an Amazon Sponsored Brands video?

No. Amazon's moderation guide says Sponsored Brands videos cannot include deals, discounts or other savings promotions, and it also rules out urgent or pressuring language. Headlines can use general savings wording such as "Savings on" a product, but not specific pricing like "Save 50%". Keep the Amazon cut clean and put offers in your Meta, TikTok and site versions instead.

Can I say Black Friday in my Amazon ads?

Yes, within Amazon's rules. "Black Friday only" should describe an offer lasting 24 hours, while "Black Friday Week" covers about seven days around the event. Any deal you advertise must be live when the ad is live, and Amazon does not allow deal teasing. The word "Deal" itself requires an Amazon deal running for the whole campaign.

How long does Amazon take to approve video ads?

Amazon does not publish a review time for Sponsored Brands. Its moderation guide tells advertisers to submit ads at least one week before launch to leave room for approval and resubmission. You can also pre-moderate creative by uploading it to your asset library and submitting it for review before the campaign exists, which is worth doing in a short holiday window.

How long does TikTok take to review ads?

TikTok's Ad Review FAQ says most ads are reviewed within 24 hours, although some take longer, and resubmitted changes can take up to another 24 hours. Build at least two days into your plan for TikTok, and make sure any discount in the ad matches the landing page exactly, since mismatched offers are a stated rejection reason.

What length should a Black Friday video ad be?

Fifteen seconds is the most useful length because it fits every platform. Amazon accepts 6 to 45 seconds for Sponsored Brands video and highly recommends 20 seconds or less. TikTok accepts much longer ads but short ones are easier to test. Cut a 15-second master per hook, plus one 25- to 30-second version of the best hook for placements where it fits.

What is a cut-down video ad?

A cut-down is a shorter ad edited from existing footage, such as a 15-second ad trimmed from a 45-second listing video or a creator video. It is the fastest way to make new ads because the shoot and the talent are already paid for. Most last-minute holiday creative is cut-downs plus new hooks and captions.

Can I use creator videos in Black Friday ads?

Only if your agreement grants paid usage and the term covers the dates you plan to run them. Content licensed for organic posting cannot run as a paid ad without that grant. If you want the ad to run from the creator's own handle as a Spark Ad or Meta Partnership Ad, you also need the creator's authorization, so ask early.

Should Black Friday ads open with the discount?

Not on Amazon, where the video cannot show it. Elsewhere, an opening percentage looks like every other Black Friday ad and says nothing about the product. Open on the product doing something people want, then show the offer as a banner and an end card. Test that against other hooks rather than assuming the discount is the strongest opening.

What if I have no video footage at all?

Try Amazon's free video generator in Creative Studio, which builds short Sponsored Brands video ads from product images or video and your product page details. For a product with an obvious demo, a one-afternoon phone shoot with a tripod and window light also works. New creator content usually takes several weeks, which is too late to test before Black Friday.

How much do last-minute video ad cuts cost?

If you edit in-house, the cost is a week of someone's time. Freelance editors and agencies vary widely. Our Ad Cut Pack is $295 for three Sponsored Brands cuts from footage you already own, captioned with three hooks and delivered in five business days. Current prices are always on our pricing page.
