Three ways to pay for the same job: hire a person, hire a freelancer by the hour, or retain an agency. Here are the real numbers for each, from pages we opened on October 27, 2026.
Short answer
In 2026, agencies that publish a price for full Amazon management start at $1,500 to $5,000 a month, and Evolve's hour plans run $750 to $3,600. Percent-of-sales deals rise with revenue. An in-house brand manager averages about $93,000 in base salary on Indeed, or about $11,000 a month once benefits are added. US freelancers on FreeUp list $30 to $75 an hour for Amazon expert work.

Amazon brand management is the ongoing job of running a brand's Amazon channel: listings, content, ad direction, pricing, stock timing, reviews and account health. If you are new to the role, start with our explainer on what an Amazon brand manager is. This page is about the bill.
You can buy the job three ways: hire an employee (salary plus benefits plus tools), hire a freelancer by the hour, or retain an agency that charges for hours, a flat fee, a percent of sales, or a mix. Each model rewards different behavior, so the cheapest sticker price is not always the cheapest outcome.
There is no government job code for Amazon brand manager, so salary sites group it with brand managers in general, many of whom never touch Seller Central. Treat these as the market rate for the title, then adjust for Amazon depth.
Indeed lists an average US base salary of $92,918 for brand managers, with a low of $58,861 and a high of $146,682, updated October 18, 2026 and based on about 2,600 salaries from job postings (Indeed). PayScale lists an average base of $88,911, with a 10th to 90th percentile range of $58,000 to $131,000, updated September 14, 2026 from 1,150 profiles (PayScale). Talent.com, which titles its page for 2026 but shows no update date, lists $93,284 on average for an Amazon brand manager, from $57,585 at entry level to $127,150 for experienced hires.
For a senior ceiling, the Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median annual pay for US marketing managers at $166,790 as of May 2025 (BLS). A head of ecommerce who runs Amazon plus other channels is closer to that group than to a single-brand manager.
Freelance marketplaces publish rate guides, though few break out brand management as its own skill. Upwork's general rate guide groups freelancers by experience: $10 to $25 an hour for beginners, $25 to $60 for intermediate, and $60 to $120 or more for advanced or expert work. The page is titled for 2026 but shows no update date, and it does not list Amazon as a separate skill.
FreeUp is more specific. Its pricing page lists Amazon expert freelancers at $30 to $75 an hour in the US, UK and Canada and $15 to $30 offshore, and Amazon PPC freelancers at $35 to $75 and $10 to $20 respectively. It also says rates are set by the freelancers and that there are no startup or monthly fees to use the marketplace (FreeUp). Note that the same page shows a second, lower Amazon table, so ask any freelancer for their actual rate.
At those rates, 20 hours a month from a US Amazon expert on FreeUp would run $600 to $1,500. That is the cheapest path to skilled hands. The catch is coverage: one person with one skill set, so you may also need a designer, a photographer and vacation cover. Our guide to the agency vs freelancer marketplace decision covers that tradeoff.
We checked agencies that sell Amazon account or brand management for a number on their own site. Each row is labeled Published, with the date checked, or Quote only, and describes the company only as its own pages do. Scope differs a lot, so compare what is included, not just the price. For a wider view, see our Amazon agency pricing guide and our count of how many agencies publish prices.
Our prices, as of October 2026. Four brand management plans: 5 hours $750/mo, 10 hours $1,250/mo, 20 hours $2,000/mo, 40 hours $3,600/mo. Paid upfront, month to month, hours do not roll over. Ad spend and production billed separately. Details on our brand management page.

PPC management is $975 a month up to $5,000 in ad spend, then the greater of a flat fee or 15%, 12% or 10% of ad spend by tier. WebFX calls these estimates (WebFX pricing).

The pricing model shapes what the agency is paid to care about. Each fits a different stage of brand, so know which one you are buying.
You buy a set number of hours each month at a known price. Cost stays fixed as you grow, and you can see exactly what you pay for. The risk is that hours run out in a busy month, so ask what happens to overflow work and whether unused hours roll over. At Evolve they do not, and extra work is $150 an hour.
One price for a defined scope, such as Lab 916's or Olifant Digital's starting retainers. Simple to budget. Read the scope carefully, since a flat fee can hide limits on ASINs, revisions or creative.
The agency takes a share of revenue, often on top of a base fee. Agency-written guides quote 3% to 8% (My Amazon Guy), 3% to 10% (Marknology, citing SupplyKick) and 5% to 15% (AMZ Dudes). It ties pay to growth, but your fee rises even when growth comes from things the agency did not do, like a price change or a viral TikTok.
Common for PPC-only work, such as WebFX's 10% to 15% tiers and Clear Ads' 7% option. It can reward spending more rather than spending well, which is why some agencies advertise that they do not use it.
A base fee plus a percent, like Marknology's $2,000 plus 3% of sales above $10,000 a month. It gives the agency a floor and a share of upside.
Write down what needs doing each month: listing updates, ad reviews, reorders, review checks, reports, launches. Estimate hours for each. This list is what you are pricing.
Multiply your own monthly hours on Amazon tasks by what an hour of your time is worth. That number is the real price of doing nothing.
Get a freelancer rate, an hourly retainer price and a flat or percent quote for the same scope. Run the percent quote at your revenue today and at your goal revenue.
Ad spend, Amazon fees, photography and inventory are not brand management. Make sure every quote lists them separately so you compare like with like.
Note minimum terms, notice periods and who owns the ad account and content if you leave. Our guide on switching Amazon agencies shows what to protect.
Run a 60 to 90 day trial on a smaller plan or one ASIN before you commit. Our agency pilot project guide shows how to score it.
If your Amazon sales are small, the cheapest brand manager is you. A $2,000 monthly retainer is $24,000 a year. If your Amazon profit cannot carry that and still leave room for ads and inventory, keep the work in house for now, buy one-off projects where you lack a skill, and revisit in six months.
In-house wins when Amazon is your main channel, the work fills a full 40-hour week, and you can afford a senior hire and the time to train them. An agency or retained brand manager wins when you need senior judgment for fewer hours, want specialists behind one point of contact, or cannot risk the gap when an employee leaves. Our comparison of an Amazon brand manager vs an in-house hire runs that math at 10, 20 and 40 hours.
Few ASINs, low ad spend, no launches planned, and you have the time.
The account runs fine but needs new photos, a listing rewrite or a PPC cleanup. Pay once and keep control.
Things break while you are busy, Amazon is a big share of revenue, and you need one person accountable for the result.
Amazon alone fills a full-time week and you can carry a fully loaded cost near $11,000 a month for an average-salary hire.
Evolve Media Agency is a husband-and-wife team in Colorado, Ian and Megan Smith, backed by AI agents. Ian founded the agency in 2017 and has sold on Amazon since 2015. Our clients are mostly Amazon, Shopify and TikTok Shop brands doing $1M to $10M a year.
We price brand management by the hour because it keeps the bill honest: you know what you pay, it does not climb just because your sales did, and you can move up or down a tier any month. Plans are paid 100% upfront, hours do not roll over, and work beyond your plan is $150 an hour. Ad spend and fixed-price production are billed separately at the prices on our pricing page, for example product photography from $295, listing optimization at $495 per listing, and PPC management from $995 a month.
