What an Ecommerce Email Agency Costs in 2026: Retainers, Flow Builds and Klaviyo Itself

We checked nine Klaviyo and ecommerce email providers on October 22, 2026, plus Upwork's freelancer price guide and Klaviyo's own pricing page. Six of the nine publish a price. None publishes a percentage of email revenue. Here is every number, what each model costs in year one, and when you should not pay any of it.

[02] How We Checked

Nine Providers, One Rule: A Price Counts Only If It Is on Their Own Site

Disclosure: Evolve Media Agency, which publishes this page, sells this service, and our row appears in the survey with the others. We quote email per scope and publish no number. Every other company's price is that company's own published figure on the date we checked, with the page it came from named, and linked where the site allows it. No company on this page pays us and nothing here is paid placement.

On October 22, 2026, we loaded the pricing or service page of nine Klaviyo and ecommerce email providers, including ours. For each we recorded the setup or audit fee and the price of building flows (the automated emails such as welcome, abandoned cart and post-purchase). We also recorded the monthly retainer for campaigns (the one-off sends to your list), any percentage of email revenue, the contract terms, and the fit the provider states. We also loaded Upwork's Klaviyo freelancer page for freelancer rates and Klaviyo's pricing page for what the software costs.

Email agencies sell three jobs: building the flows, sending campaigns, and growing the list. Some price them separately; most fold all three into one monthly fee. That is why the same brand can be quoted $1,200 by one shop and $5,000 by another. Read the quote by job, not by total.

Published price (six)

Netalico, Retention Drivers, Excelohunt, RevGrowth, InboxArmy (a stated minimum) and Ryzeo (a starting price).

Quote only (three)

Hustler Marketing and Flowium publish their terms but no dollar figure. Evolve Media Agency quotes email per scope.

Percentage of email revenue (none)

No provider we checked prints a revenue share. If one is quoted to you, the math section shows how to turn it into a dollar figure before you sign.

[03] The Three Models, With Math

Build-Then-Retain, All-In Retainer, or Freelancer: What Year One Costs

The figures below are each provider's own published prices, added up over twelve months. They are worked examples, not quotes. Assume Klaviyo's subscription is billed to you on top; Retention Drivers says so in writing.

Flows once, then campaigns monthly

What you payA one-time fee to build the flows, then a monthly fee for campaigns. Netalico publishes both: flows $2,500, $5,500 or $6,000; campaigns $1,200, $2,500 or $5,000 a month. Hustler Marketing uses the same structure without a published price.
Example, small programNetalico eComm Essentials flows $2,500 plus Essential campaigns at $1,200 x 12 = $14,400. Year one: $16,900.
Example, mid programNetalico Growth Foundations $5,500 plus Growth at $2,500 x 12 = $30,000. Year one: $35,500. Year two drops to $30,000.
Who it fitsBrands that want to own the flows outright and can stop or shrink the campaign retainer later.
Watch forWho owns the templates and flows if you leave. They should live in your Klaviyo account.

All-in monthly retainer

What you payOne monthly fee with setup folded in. Published: Ryzeo from $399 (billing period not stated); Excelohunt $499 to $2,999 (campaigns only); Retention Drivers $1,500, $2,500 or $3,500; InboxArmy from $1,500; RevGrowth from $3,200.
Example, small programRetention Drivers Starter at $1,500 x 12 = $18,000, with four core flows and four campaigns a month included.
Example, mid programRetention Drivers Growth at $2,500 x 12 = $30,000. RevGrowth at $3,200 x 12 = $38,400.
Who it fitsBrands that want one number and one team, and expect to keep the retainer for a year or more.
Watch forYear two costs the same as year one even though the flows were built in month one. Ask what the fee buys once setup is done.

Freelancer or a la carte

What you payPer project or per month. Upwork's guide: basic flows $300 to $800 a project, a full automation buildout $1,500 to $4,000+, campaign management $500 to $1,500 a month, email marketers $15 to $40 an hour. Excelohunt sells single flows from $349.
Example, small programExcelohunt Core 5 Flows $1,399 plus Starter campaigns at $499 x 12 = $5,988. Year one: $7,387.
Example, mid programUpwork ranges: buildout $1,500 to $4,000 plus campaigns at $500 to $1,500 x 12. Year one: $7,500 to $22,000, plus your time managing the work.
Who it fitsLists under about 10,000 profiles, or brands with someone in-house who can brief and check the work.
Watch forStrategy and deliverability are usually not in the price. You are the account manager.

List size

Most providers scale the fee with your profile count or send volume. Ryzeo says so on its pricing page, and Excelohunt says it works best with 5,000 or more subscribers.

Number of flows

Four core flows are the base: welcome, abandoned cart, abandoned checkout and browse abandonment in Netalico's package, while Retention Drivers counts post-purchase and winback in place of the last two. Post-purchase, winback, upsell and VIP flows are where Netalico's $2,500 package becomes $6,000.

Campaigns a month

The biggest driver of a retainer. Published plans step up from 2 to 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20+ sends a month, and the fee climbs with each step; Netalico's roughly doubles at each step, from $1,200 to $2,500 to $5,000.

SMS

Text campaigns are an add-on or a higher tier at Retention Drivers, Netalico and RevGrowth. Klaviyo bills the message credits separately.

Platform migration and deliverability

Moving from another platform, or fixing a list that lands in spam, is setup work. Retention Drivers puts migration in month one; others quote it.

If someone quotes a percentage of email revenue: multiply it by your last three months of email revenue before you agree. Example only: a brand whose email brings in $40,000 a month pays $4,000 a month at 10%, which is more than every published retainer on this page except Netalico Pro. Then ask which revenue counts. Most agencies report Klaviyo-attributed revenue, which credits email for any order placed within a set window after an open or click, including orders that would have happened anyway.
[04] The Software Bill

What Klaviyo Itself Costs, Before Any Agency Fee

Every agency fee sits on top of the software. Klaviyo's published US pricing (checked Oct 22, 2026): free up to 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month; email plans from $20 a month; email plus SMS from $35. The calculator's email tiers read about $150 a month at 10,000 profiles, $375 at 20,000, $720 at 50,000 and $1,380 at 100,000. SMS credits are extra.

Klaviyo also sells its own support plans: Professional from $500 a month and Enterprise from $1,800 a month. Those buy faster support and strategic guidance from Klaviyo staff. They do not write or send your emails, so they are not a replacement for an agency or a freelancer.

List sizeKlaviyo email plan, October 2026
10,000 profilesAbout $150 a month, $1,800 a year.
20,000 profilesAbout $375 a month, $4,500 a year.
50,000 profilesAbout $720 a month, $8,640 a year.
100,000 profilesAbout $1,380 a month, $16,560 a year.
Total year-one cost, example only: a brand with 50,000 profiles on Netalico's Growth flows and Growth campaigns pays $35,500 to the agency plus about $8,640 to Klaviyo, or $44,140. The same brand on Retention Drivers Growth pays $30,000 plus $8,640, or $38,640. A brand with 10,000 profiles on Excelohunt's Core 5 Flows and Starter plan pays $7,387 plus about $1,800, or $9,187. The software is about 20% to 22% of the total in these examples, so budget for both.

Who fits where: Netalico is the better pick if you want the flows priced separately from campaigns and you are past $2M. Retention Drivers fits a brand that wants copy, design and sending in one fixed monthly fee with 30 days' notice. Excelohunt is the cheapest published way to get one flow built. Hustler and Flowium suit brands that will take a call before seeing a price. Retention Drivers' own site says most agencies charge $2,500 to $10,000+ a month; that is its claim, not a survey. The Upwork guide (upwork.com/hire/klaviyo-freelancers) is a marketplace range with no date or sample size.
[06] Read This Before You Book

When You Should Not Pay an Email Agency Yet

Your list is under 5,000 engaged profiles

Excelohunt says it works best above 5,000 subscribers. A $1,500 retainer against a 3,000-person list rarely pays for itself. Grow the list first; our list-building guide is the free version of that work.

The core flows do not exist yet

Welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment and post-purchase are a project, not a retainer. Buy them once (Netalico from $2,500, Excelohunt from $349) or build them yourself with the ecommerce email flows guide.

The fee would be more than about 10% of email revenue

Example only: email bringing in $10,000 a month cannot carry a $2,500 retainer and still leave room for the product cost. Start with a freelancer or a one-time build.

Your emails land in spam

More campaigns make deliverability (whether your email reaches the inbox) worse. Fix sender authentication (the SPF, DKIM and DMARC settings that prove the mail is yours) and remove inactive addresses first.

You only sell on Amazon

Amazon does not hand you customer emails. Without a Shopify store or another way to capture emails, there is nothing for an email agency to send to.

[07] On the Call

Six Price Questions to Ask an Email Agency

1

Is flow building a one-time fee or inside the retainer?

Netalico and Hustler bill flows once; Retention Drivers folds setup into month one. Ask what year two costs.

2

How many campaigns a month does the fee buy, and does SMS cost extra?

Published plans run from 2 campaigns (Excelohunt Starter) to 20+ campaigns (Excelohunt Enterprise); Netalico Pro is 16 emails and 4 texts.

3

If you charge a percentage, of which revenue?

Klaviyo-attributed revenue or total store revenue, and over what attribution window. Get the number in writing.

4

Who owns the Klaviyo account, the templates and the flows?

You should. Work built inside your account stays when the agency leaves.

5

What is the notice period?

Published: 30 days at Retention Drivers and Hustler, 60 days at Flowium. Annual terms should come with a discount.

6

Is the Klaviyo bill in your fee or billed to me?

It should be billed to you directly, so you can see what the software costs.

[09] FAQ

Email Agency Pricing Questions

How much does a Klaviyo email marketing agency cost in 2026?
Published monthly fees run from $499 (Excelohunt) to $1,500 to $3,500 (Retention Drivers), $1,500 minimum (InboxArmy), $3,200 (RevGrowth) and $1,200 to $5,000 (Netalico); Ryzeo starts at $399 with no billing period stated. One-time flow builds run $349 to $1,399 at Excelohunt and $2,500 to $6,000 at Netalico. Hustler, Flowium and Evolve Media Agency quote.
Do email agencies charge a percentage of email revenue?
None of the nine providers we checked on October 22, 2026 publishes one. If you are quoted a percentage, multiply it by your recent email revenue to get a dollar figure, and ask whether it applies to Klaviyo-attributed revenue or total store revenue.
What does it cost to have Klaviyo flows built?
Published one-time prices: Excelohunt $349 for an abandoned cart flow, $419 for a welcome series and $1,399 for five core flows; Netalico $2,500, $5,500 or $6,000 for flow packages. Upwork's guide lists $300 to $800 for basic flows and $1,500 to $4,000+ for a full automation buildout by freelancers.
What do Klaviyo freelancers charge?
Upwork's Klaviyo hiring page says email marketers generally charge $15 to $40 an hour, with Klaviyo experts often charging more, and lists campaign management at $500 to $1,500 a month.
How much does Klaviyo itself cost?
Free up to 250 active profiles; email plans from $20 a month; email plus SMS from $35. About $150 a month at 10,000 profiles, $375 at 20,000, $720 at 50,000 and $1,380 at 100,000. Klaviyo's support plans start at $500 a month (Professional) and $1,800 (Enterprise).
What does Evolve Media Agency charge for email marketing?
We quote email per scope after a free 30-minute call, because the work depends on list size, which flows already exist and whether the list-capture side is built. We do not publish a number. The quote is written and fixed before work starts.
Is a retainer or a one-time build better?
If your flows do not exist, buy them once and own them. A retainer makes sense once the flows run and you want campaigns sent every week by someone else. Year two of an all-in retainer costs the same as year one, so ask what the fee covers after setup.
What contract terms are normal?
Month-to-month is the norm among providers that publish terms: Retention Drivers and Hustler ask for 30 days' notice, Flowium 60 days, and Excelohunt states month-to-month. Flowium and Excelohunt offer lower pricing for longer commitments.
