TikTok Shop Account Health & Violations Guide

TikTok Shop retired violation points in July 2026 and replaced them with a single 0-to-1,000 Account Health Rating that moves every day. Here is how the score is built, where the restriction milestones are, which violations cost the most, how to appeal inside the windows that matter, and the operating rules that keep a shop above 200 without thinking about it.

200 Starting AHR; Healthy Is 200+
150 First Restriction Milestone
180 Days The Score Looks Back
0 Permanent Deactivation
Quick Answer

Since July 2026, US TikTok Shop sellers are governed by the Account Health Rating (AHR), a 0-to-1,000 score in Seller Center that replaced the older violation-points strike system. Every shop starts at 200, gains points for fulfilled orders and for passing policy quizzes, and loses points for policy violations and missed performance standards, all measured over the last 180 days. Above 200 is healthy. Dropping to 150 blocks new listings and mega-campaign enrollment for 7 days; 100 extends that to 14 days; 50 to 28 days; and 0 means permanent deactivation, with reactivation at TikTok's discretion. TikTok warns you within 10 points of each milestone. The violations that cost the most are the ones that hurt buyers: late dispatch, seller-fault cancellations, slow after-sales handling, negative review rate and seller-fault returns above your category's benchmark, plus prohibited or misrepresented listings. Every violation is a ticket with its own record, evidence requirement and appeal window; winning the appeal restores the points, and the windows are short, so read the ticket the day it lands. The shop that never thinks about AHR is the one that ships on time, answers after-sales inside the clock, keeps listings honest, and grows the score with volume.

The old system counted strikes. The new one is a bank balance that pays interest on good behavior and charges fees for bad, and most sellers found out about it when the preview score appeared in May.

Every marketplace has an account health system, and every seller learns it the first time a notice arrives. On TikTok Shop that education got harder in 2026 because the system changed under people's feet: violation points became a rolling score, the customer complaint metric became a handling-time clock, and the comparisons moved to category benchmarks. This post is the current system, written from TikTok's own Account Health Rating requirements page and the seller guides that have tracked the rollout, plus what we have seen managing client shops through it.

Disclosure And Dates

Evolve Media Agency manages TikTok Shop for clients, and Bear Basics, the brand I own, sells on it, so we have an interest in shops staying healthy and in you hiring help when they are not. The score mechanics below are from TikTok Shop's US Seller Center as of September 15, 2026; the appeal windows and some metric details are from third-party summaries of TikTok's policy documents and are labeled as reported. TikTok changes enforcement policy frequently and the Seller Center page is authoritative over this post.

This is the TikTok mirror of our Amazon account health guide; section 11 maps the two side by side for brands running both.

01/12 Section

What Changed In July 2026

Four things, and a seller who learned TikTok Shop in 2025 needs to unlearn all of them.

  • Violation points are gone in the US. The strike-style system where points accumulated toward suspension thresholds was retired in July 2026 for US shops and replaced by the Account Health Rating. Sellers could preview their projected AHR in Seller Center from May 2026. Some other regions still run a points system (a 48-point version is documented for some Asian markets), which is why advice from a non-US seller can be exactly wrong for a US shop; your enforcement system follows your shop's registered country.
  • The score can go up. Under points, the best you could do was zero. Under AHR, fulfilled orders and policy quizzes add points, so a high-volume, well-run shop builds a cushion above 200.
  • Negative review rate and seller-fault return rate are compared to your category rather than to a flat threshold, per the rollout notes. A 4% return rate is a problem in supplements and normal in apparel.
  • Customer complaint rate was replaced by a 60-day After-Sales Handling Time metric, per the same notes. What is measured is how fast you resolve after-sales requests, which is something you control.

The older 0-to-100 "Shop Health Score" with green, yellow and red bands that some 2025 guides describe is the previous model; if your Seller Center shows a score out of 1,000, you are on AHR and this post applies.

How The Account Health Rating Is Built

Definition

Account Health Rating (AHR). TikTok Shop's 0-to-1,000 score of a seller's compliance and performance standing, shown in Seller Center under Account Health. Per TikTok's requirements page, it is based on the last 180 days: every shop starts at 200, earns points for fulfilled orders and for passing policy quizzes, and loses points for policy violations and for failing performance standards. It is continuous rather than a strike count, and enforcement is triggered at milestone scores rather than by a single violation.

start 200 points for every new shop window the last 180 days (one third-party source describes a 90-day formula window; TikTok's page says 180) earns points fulfilled orders; policy quizzes tied to violations (also shorten enforcement) loses points policy violations (product, listing, IP, conduct); performance standards missed (dispatch, cancellations, after-sales, returns, reviews) ceiling 1,000 warnings email and Seller Center notice when within 10 points of a milestone where Seller Center -> Account Health -> Shop Health (score, violation records, enforcement, appeal actions)

Two consequences of the design. First, volume is protective: a shop doing 500 orders a month accrues points that absorb a violation a shop doing 20 orders cannot. Second, the 180-day window means a bad month follows you for six, and also that a clean six months erases it. Neither is true under a strike system, which is why sellers who plan around "how many strikes until suspension" are planning for a system that no longer exists.

The Milestones And What They Restrict

AHR ScoreStatusEnforcementDuration
200 to 1,000HealthyNonen/a

150At riskCannot create new listings; cannot enroll in mega campaigns7 days
100Elevated riskSame restrictions14 days
50CriticalSame restrictions28 days
0DeactivatedPermanent account deactivation; reactivation at TikTok's sole discretionPermanent

Read the middle rows carefully: the restriction is on new listings and mega-campaign enrollment, and it lasts a fixed number of days from the milestone. Existing listings keep selling. That is less severe than an Amazon suspension and more insidious, because a shop at 150 during a Q4 mega campaign loses the campaign it built the year around and keeps trading otherwise, so the damage does not look like an emergency until the revenue report. Passing the policy quiz attached to a violation can shorten the enforcement, which is a reason to open the ticket the day it arrives.

The Performance Metrics Underneath

Policy violations are discrete events. Performance standards are rates, measured continuously, and they are where most healthy shops lose points without noticing. The ones that matter, with the direction of the 2026 changes.

MetricWhat It Measures2026 NoteWhat Moves It
Late dispatch rateOrders not handed to the carrier inside the dispatch windowUnchanged; the most common deduction we seeHandling-time setting vs real capacity; weekend and holiday gaps; 3PL cutoffs
Seller-fault cancellation rateOrders you cancel (stockout, pricing error, cannot ship)UnchangedInventory sync between channels; oversells during LIVE and flash sales
After-Sales Handling Time (60-day)How quickly you resolve return, refund and after-sales requestsReplaced Customer Complaint Rate, per rollout notesWhether someone checks the after-sales queue daily, including weekends
Seller-fault return / refund rateReturns attributed to the seller: not as described, damaged, wrong itemMoving to category-based comparisonListing accuracy (section 5); packaging; QC
Negative review rateShare of reviews at low ratingsMoving to category-based comparisonProduct quality; expectation-setting on the listing; delivery experience
Delivery and logistics performanceOn-time delivery, tracking validityCarrier-dependent; seller accountableCarrier choice; valid tracking uploaded at dispatch

The category-based comparison is the change that helps honest sellers most. Under a flat threshold, apparel and footwear shops lived near the return-rate line permanently. Against a category benchmark, a shop only loses points for being worse than its peers. Watch the Shop Health page for where your category benchmark sits; TikTok shows the comparison rather than publishing the numbers.

Violations By Type And Cost

TikTok does not publish a point value per violation; deductions scale with severity and repetition. From tickets we have handled and the policy categories TikTok uses, ranked by how much damage they do to a score and how often they appear.

Violation FamilyTypical TriggerSeverityAlso Triggers
Prohibited or restricted productsListing an item in a restricted category without approval; counterfeits; recalled goodsHighest; can deactivate without milestone stepsListing removal, payout hold
Intellectual propertyRights-holder complaint; brand name in title; stock images you do not ownHigh, especially repeatedListing freeze; brand authorization demand
MisrepresentationProduct not as described; wrong category to dodge requirements; deceptive pricingHigh; feeds return rate tooListing removal; return-rate deductions
Fulfillment performanceLate dispatch, seller-fault cancellations, invalid trackingMedium per event; the most frequentOrder value limit cuts, settlement delays (reported)
After-salesMissed handling-time clock; refused valid returnsMedium; compounds weeklyAuto-approved refunds at your cost
Off-platform and conductRedirecting buyers off TikTok; review manipulation; contacting buyers outside the platformHighFeature restrictions
Listing qualityMissing disclosures (Prop 65, choking hazard); non-compliant images; character substitutionLow to medium; frequent on new shopsListing capped or removed until fixed

The top three rows are the ones that can end a shop in a single ticket. The bottom four are the ones that grind a healthy shop down to 150 over a quarter, and they are all operational. The listing-quality row overlaps the TikTok Shop listing rules covered earlier in this series; fixing the listing fixes the violation and usually the return rate with it.

06/12 Section

Reading A Violation Ticket

A violation is a record with its own reason, policy reference, point deduction, status, enforcement and next step. The score is the sum; the ticket is the thing you act on. Sellers who watch only the number miss the ticket whose appeal window closes in three days.

reason the policy family and the specific finding (e.g. "late dispatch: 14 orders, Sep 1-7") policy a link to the exact policy clause; read it, since the appeal has to speak to it deduction points removed; sometimes pending until an appeal window passes enforcement what is restricted, from when, for how long; "delayed enforcement" means it applies unless you appeal in time status open / under appeal / upheld / overturned next step appeal, correct the listing, take the policy quiz, or acknowledge # Rule: open every ticket the day it lands. The 10-point milestone warning is about the score; it is not a substitute for reading the ticket.

Two ticket types deserve special attention. Delayed-enforcement tickets are the ones where the penalty applies automatically unless you appeal inside a short window, reported at 12 to 72 hours depending on the violation; those are the ones to check email for daily. And performance tickets (dispatch, cancellations, after-sales) come with the order list, which is the evidence base for the appeal and the diagnosis for the fix.

07/12 Section

Appeals: Windows, Evidence, What Wins

Every violation can be appealed from its record, and a successful appeal removes the violation and restores the points. The windows, as reported from TikTok's Violation and Appeal Guide (May 2026): a first appeal within a set number of calendar days of notification, a second and final appeal within 15 calendar days of a rejection, and for delayed-enforcement violations a much shorter window of 12 to 72 hours to stop the penalty applying. Check the window on your own ticket; it is printed there.

Violation FamilyEvidence That WinsWhat Loses
Late dispatchCarrier acceptance scans with timestamps; 3PL or WMS logs; Seller Center screenshots with metadata showing dispatch inside the window"We shipped on time" with no scan; blaming the carrier without the handoff proof
Seller-fault cancellationProof the buyer requested cancellation; proof the address was undeliverableStockout explanations; those are seller fault by definition
After-sales handlingTimestamps showing response and resolution inside the clock; the buyer's own messagesArguing the buyer was wrong; the metric is time rather than merit
IP / authenticityInvoices from the brand or authorized distributor in the shop entity's name; brand authorization letter; trademark registration if it is your brandMarketplace receipts; invoices in a different company name
Misrepresentation / wrong categoryFix the listing first, then appeal with before-and-after; category documentation for the correct placementAppealing without changing the listing
Prohibited productCategory approval documents; lab reports or certifications the category requires; proof the item is not what the classifier matched"Other sellers list it"

The pattern across every row: the appeal is a document delivery rather than an argument. State the finding, state the fact that contradicts it, attach the proof with timestamps, and stop. Where the finding is correct, fix it, take the quiz, and use the appeal box to describe the correction, because TikTok's guidance says corrections can restore privileges too. The Amazon Section 3 appeals guide covers the same discipline for Amazon, and the two are more alike than sellers expect.

08/12 Section

The Connected-Account Trap

TikTok links shops that share identifying details: bank accounts, contact information, business registration, sometimes devices and addresses. When one linked shop is penalized, restrictions can extend to the others. Brands hit this when an agency runs several client shops from shared infrastructure, when a founder opens a second shop for a second brand with the same payout account, or when a previously deactivated shop shares any detail with a new one.

  • Keep every shop's registration, bank account, email and phone distinct, and document it, because "legitimately separate" is something you will need to prove.
  • Resolve the root shop's violation first. Appeals on the linked shop fail while the source violation stands.
  • Never open a new shop to escape a deactivated one. It is the fastest route to a permanent link and both shops closed.
  • Agencies: separate client infrastructure. A client's IP violation should not be able to touch another client's shop through a shared login or payout detail.
09/12 Section

Recovering A Score Below 200

A shop at 160 with a mega campaign three weeks out has a specific job. In order:

day 1 Open every violation record. Appeal everything with evidence inside its window; delayed-enforcement tickets first. Take every available policy quiz (shortens enforcement, can add points). day 1-2 Find the performance metric bleeding points (usually dispatch or after-sales). Fix the cause today: shorten handling time promises to what you can hit, clear the after-sales queue, upload valid tracking on every open order. day 2-3 Audit every live listing against the listing policy: category, disclosures, claims, images. Fix or unpublish anything that could generate a ticket this month. (New listings may be blocked; edits to existing ones are not.) week 1-4 Fulfill volume cleanly. Points accrue from completed orders, so the fastest recovery is a run of on-time orders with no after-sales misses. Creator videos and existing listings keep selling; lean on them. ongoing Watch the score daily until 200+, then weekly. The 180-day window means the bad period rolls off in six months; do not add to it. # What does not work: opening tickets with support to "ask for points back," creating a second shop, or arguing appeals without documents.

The recovery lever unique to AHR is volume. Under a strike system, selling more could only add risk. Under AHR, a clean order adds points, so a shop below 200 should push creator and LIVE activity on its existing listings rather than pulling back, provided fulfillment can keep up; a stockout cancellation during a recovery push is the worst possible outcome. The TikTok Shop strategy guide covers pacing demand against fulfillment capacity.

Prevention: The Operating Rules

Rules That Keep A Shop Above 200 Operational, Not Clever
Rule 01
Promise Only The Handling Time You Hit On Your Worst Day

Set handling time to what Friday afternoon and the day after a LIVE can deliver rather than what Tuesday morning can. Late dispatch is the most common deduction and it is a settings problem.

Rule 02
Someone Owns The After-Sales Queue Every Day

Including weekends. The 60-day handling-time metric is a clock, and a Saturday request that waits until Monday is two days on the clock.

Rule 03
Inventory Is Synced Before Any Spike

LIVE sessions and flash sales cause oversells; oversells cause seller-fault cancellations. Sync stock with Amazon and Shopify, and set a LIVE-only reserve.

Rule 04
Listings Are Honest And Complete

Accurate category, exact measurements, required disclosures, no claims you cannot document. This one rule prevents misrepresentation tickets, return-rate deductions and negative reviews at once.

Rule 05
Valid Tracking On Every Order At Dispatch

Tracking uploaded late or invalid counts against delivery performance even when the package arrives.

Rule 06
Read Every Ticket The Day It Lands

Delayed-enforcement windows are measured in hours. A daily check of Shop Health and email is the whole habit.

TikTok Shop vs Amazon Account Health

For brands running both, the systems rhyme and the differences are where people get hurt.

The shared discipline is the one both guides end on: ship on time, answer fast, list honestly, document everything. The TikTok-specific hazard is the silent one: a shop at 150 keeps taking orders, so the restriction is easy to miss until a campaign you planned for is unavailable.

The counterweight, since we sell this: a shop that ships on time and answers after-sales daily does not need an agency for account health, and most of the shops we see in trouble have a fulfillment problem an operator could fix in a week. Where help pays is in the appeals, because writing a document-first appeal inside a 48-hour window while running a shop is a skill, and in the linked-account cases, which are genuinely tangled. For everything else, the six rules in section 10 are the whole program.

The score is a bank balance. Orders deposit, violations withdraw, and a shop that never looks at it is fine right up until the mega campaign it cannot enter.

Key Takeaways

What To Remember

  • US TikTok Shop replaced violation points with the Account Health Rating in July 2026: 0 to 1,000, starting at 200, measured over 180 days, rising with fulfilled orders and policy quizzes and falling with violations and missed performance standards.
  • Milestones at 150, 100 and 50 block new listings and mega-campaign enrollment for 7, 14 and 28 days; 0 is permanent deactivation, and TikTok warns you within 10 points of each.
  • Existing listings keep selling under enforcement, which makes a restriction easy to miss until the campaign you planned for is closed.
  • The metrics that bleed points are operational: late dispatch, seller-fault cancellations, after-sales handling time (which replaced complaint rate), and returns and negative reviews now compared to your category.
  • Every violation is a ticket with its own record, evidence requirement and appeal window; delayed-enforcement windows are reported at 12 to 72 hours, so read tickets the day they land.
  • Appeals are document deliveries: the finding, the contradicting fact, timestamped proof, and nothing else; where the finding is right, fix it, take the quiz, and describe the correction.
  • Volume is a recovery lever under AHR; a shop below 200 should push clean orders on existing listings rather than pull back, provided fulfillment can hold.

Questions

Twelve things sellers ask when the score moves.
What is the TikTok Shop Account Health Rating?

A 0-to-1,000 score in Seller Center, under Account Health, that replaced violation points for US shops in July 2026. Every shop starts at 200, gains points for fulfilled orders and for passing policy quizzes, and loses points for policy violations and missed performance standards, measured over the last 180 days. Above 200 is healthy; enforcement triggers at 150, 100, 50 and 0.

What happens when my TikTok Shop AHR drops to 150?

You cannot create new listings or enroll in mega campaigns for 7 days. At 100 the same restrictions last 14 days, at 50 they last 28 days, and at 0 the account is permanently deactivated with reactivation at TikTok's discretion. Existing listings keep selling during the restrictions, which is why a drop is easy to miss until a campaign is unavailable. TikTok warns you within 10 points of each milestone.

Are TikTok Shop violation points still a thing?

For US shops, no: the points system was retired in July 2026 and replaced by the Account Health Rating. Some other regions still run a points-based system (a 48-point version is documented for certain markets), and your enforcement system follows your shop's registered country. If Seller Center shows a score out of 1,000, you are on AHR.

How do I raise my TikTok Shop account health score?

Fulfill orders cleanly, since completed orders add points; take every policy quiz attached to a violation, which adds points and can shorten enforcement; appeal violations with documented evidence, which restores the deducted points when it succeeds; and fix the performance metric that is bleeding, usually dispatch or after-sales handling time. The 180-day window means a clean six months erases a bad period.

Which violations hurt a TikTok Shop score the most?

Prohibited or restricted products, intellectual property complaints and misrepresentation can deactivate a shop in a single ticket. Fulfillment performance (late dispatch, seller-fault cancellations, invalid tracking), after-sales handling delays and listing-quality issues are less severe per event but far more frequent, and they are what grinds a healthy shop down to 150 over a quarter.

How do I appeal a TikTok Shop violation?

From the violation record in Seller Center under Account Health, Shop Health, Violation Records. State the finding, state the fact that contradicts it, and attach timestamped proof: carrier scans for dispatch, invoices in the shop entity's name for authenticity, message timestamps for after-sales. Where the finding is correct, fix it first, take the quiz, and describe the correction. Appeal windows are printed on the ticket; delayed-enforcement violations are reported to have windows of 12 to 72 hours.

How long do I have to appeal a TikTok Shop violation?

It is printed on each ticket. As reported from TikTok's Violation and Appeal Guide (May 2026), a first appeal has a set window of calendar days from notification, a second and final appeal must be filed within 15 calendar days of a rejection, and delayed-enforcement violations require appeal within 12 to 72 hours to stop the penalty applying. Read every ticket the day it lands.

What is After-Sales Handling Time on TikTok Shop?

A 60-day metric measuring how quickly you resolve return, refund and after-sales requests, reported to have replaced the Customer Complaint Rate in the 2026 overhaul. It is a clock rather than a judgment of merit: a valid request that waits from Saturday to Monday is two days on the clock regardless of who was right. Someone should own the after-sales queue every day, including weekends.

Why did my TikTok Shop get restricted when my score looked fine?

Usually a connected-account issue or a single high-severity ticket. TikTok links shops that share bank accounts, contact details, registration or infrastructure, and restrictions on one can extend to the others; resolve the root shop's violation first and document that the shops are legitimately separate. Prohibited-product and IP tickets can also trigger enforcement outside the milestone steps.

Can I open a new TikTok Shop if mine is deactivated?

Opening a new shop to escape a deactivated one is the fastest route to both being closed, because TikTok links shops by shared details. The path is reactivation of the original through appeals, which is at TikTok's sole discretion at a score of 0. Keep separate businesses genuinely separate in registration, banking and contact details from the start.

How is TikTok Shop account health different from Amazon's?

Both use a 0-to-1,000 rating starting at 200 over 180 days. TikTok's milestone enforcement blocks new listings and mega campaigns for fixed periods while existing listings keep selling; Amazon's suspension stops everything. TikTok compares returns and negative reviews to your category; Amazon uses flat thresholds for ODR, late shipment and cancellation rates. Both link related accounts and both reward documented, fixed-first appeals.

What should I check every week to keep my TikTok Shop healthy?

The score and its distance to 150; every open ticket and its appeal window; available policy quizzes; late dispatch and seller-fault cancellations in the last seven days with causes; after-sales requests older than 24 hours (target zero); your position against the category benchmark on returns and negative reviews; orders without valid tracking; flagged listings; and handling time and stock reserves for any LIVE or campaign in the next two weeks.
