[01] Supplement Listing Fixes

Why Supplement Listings Get Deactivated, and How to Get Them Back

A supplement listing usually goes dark for one of seven reasons, and each one has a different fix. Here is how to tell which one you have, what Amazon asks for, and when an appeal is the right move, as of October 2026.

Short answer

As of October 2026, Amazon most often deactivates or suppresses supplement listings for disease or drug claims, a missing or failed third-party verification, listing details that do not match the Supplement Facts panel, missing label images or attributes, expiration problems, prohibited ingredients, and authenticity complaints. The fix depends on the cause: edit the listing, complete verification through an authorized testing provider, or submit invoices and an appeal in Account Health.

Suppressed, Deactivated or Blocked: Know Which You Have

Disclosure: Disclosure: Evolve Media Agency sells listing, creative and brand management services to supplement brands, including the listing cleanup described here. We do not run lab tests, create compliance documents, or give legal advice. This page summarizes Amazon's public policy pages as of October 2026; confirm the current text in Seller Central before you act, and talk to a regulatory attorney for anything near the legal line.

Sellers use these words loosely, but Amazon's tools treat them differently, and the fix depends on which one you are looking at. A suppressed listing still exists but is hidden from search and browse because something on the detail page is missing or below standard. A deactivated listing has been taken down for a policy or compliance reason and shows an issue in Account Health. A blocked new listing never went live because Amazon wants documents approved first.

Amazon's suppressed listings page says it hides non-media listings that lack complete product information such as images, category, titles and price per unit, and that consumables, including Health and Personal Care, are suppressed without a unit count. Those you fix in Manage All Inventory under Activate listings. Policy and compliance problems show up instead under Account Health, usually in Food and product safety issues for supplements.

The reason shown in Account Health or Manage All Inventory is the only diagnosis that counts. Do not guess from forum posts, and do not change the product to fit a theory before you read the notice.

[03] The usual causes

Seven Reasons Supplement Listings Come Down

These come from Amazon's dietary supplements policy and the related policy pages we opened in October 2026. Our Amazon dietary supplement policy guide covers each rule in more depth.

1. Disease or drug claims

The policy bars claims to diagnose, cure, reduce, treat or prevent a disease, comparisons to prescription drugs or controlled substances, steroid-like claims, the FDA logo and an FDA approved claim the product does not have. Disease names in backend keywords count too. Amazon's misleading and prohibited claims policy lists diseases such as diabetes, depression, obesity and flu, and covers images, descriptions, packaging and marketing materials.

2. Missing or failed third-party verification

As of October 2026, every notified supplement needs a current third-party cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) certificate verified through an authorized testing, inspection and certification (TIC) provider. Bodybuilding, joint health, sexual enhancement, sports nutrition and weight management products also need lab testing. Amazon says a failed test or failed document review deactivates the listing right away.

3. Listing details that do not match the label

The policy bars ingredient weights that do not match the Supplement Facts panel, inflated raw-herb equivalents, weights with no ingredient name and weights with no serving size. NutraIngredients reported in March 2026 that the matching rule rolled out on March 31 and that listings with conflicting information may be flagged or removed.

4. Missing label images or attributes

Amazon requires images of the full English label, the Supplement Facts panel, lot or other identifying codes and the brand owner's name and address, plus attributes for item name, manufacturer, brand, ingredients and unit count. A clean rendered bottle with no panel image does not meet the rule.

5. Expiration and shelf-life problems

Amazon's FBA expiration page treats supplements as expiration-dated and requires an expiration or manufacturing date on every ingestible product. A mismatch between the date entered in Send to Amazon and the date on the item is an expiration date defect that can lead to listing removal or disposal.

6. Prohibited ingredients or formats

Amazon will not allow CBD, controlled substances, peptides such as BPC-157, GLP-1 receptor agonists, pure powdered caffeine, products named in FDA recalls or warning letters, and single- or double-pill packs of sexual enhancement or weight loss supplements. No document fixes these.

7. Authenticity or quality complaints

Amazon's anti-counterfeiting policy says sellers must provide records about authenticity when asked, and that suspect listings can be removed based on Amazon's own review. For brand owners, this usually means proving where the goods came from with invoices from your manufacturer.

[04] Step by step

How to Fix a Deactivated Supplement Listing in 8 Steps

1

Read the exact notice

Open Account Health and check Policy compliance, then Food and product safety issues. Also check Manage All Inventory for suppressed listings. Write down the ASIN, the policy named, and the Address issue by date. That date is your deadline, not a number from a forum.

2

Sort it into one of three buckets

A listing problem (claim, keyword, image, attribute, panel mismatch) you fix on the detail page. A compliance problem (cGMP certificate, testing) goes through a TIC provider. An authenticity or quality problem needs invoices and a plan of action through the banner in Account Health.

3

Fix listing problems everywhere at once

Remove disease words and drug comparisons from the title, bullets, description, A+ content, images and backend search terms. Rewrite claims as structure/function statements, using our structure/function claims guide, and make every ingredient amount match the panel. For suppressed listings, enter the missing values under Activate listings and save.

4

Start verification the day you are notified

In Food and product safety issues, click Submit next to the ASIN, choose Verify your product, then Test for new testing or Validate for existing documents. Pick a provider and send it your TRF details. Amazon says listings are not deactivated while the request is marked in progress, so get samples or documents to the provider fast.

5

If a test failed, fix the product, not the paperwork

Get the written findings from the provider, work out the cause with your manufacturer, and resubmit compliant documents. Amazon says the listing stays down until compliant documents arrive and every other issue on the ASIN is resolved. Our certificate of analysis guide helps you read what failed.

6

For authenticity notices, gather the right invoices

Amazon's invoice requirements page asks for supplier invoices dated within 365 days before the notice, with supplier contact details and quantities that cover your sales and stock for the cited ASINs. You may remove prices. Pro forma invoices, quotes, self-issued invoices and editable files are not accepted.

7

Fix expiration records before you reship

Make sure the expiration attributes on the ASIN are right, that the date entered in Send to Amazon matches the date printed on the item, and that each box holds one expiration date per ASIN. Units that arrive without full use plus 90 days of shelf life can be refused or marked for disposal, and Amazon's guideline table lists 730 days for herbal or mineral supplements, so confirm the figure for your ASIN in Seller Central.

8

Appeal only when the rule does not apply

If you believe the product was classified as prohibited by mistake, Amazon's policy says to submit an appeal in Account Health, and it says not to use that path to appeal compliance requirements. For a verification requirement you think is wrong, use Appeal request on the same Food and product safety screen and explain why with specifics.

Deadlines differ by source. The American Herbal Products Association said in December 2025 that contacted companies would have 90 days to start a TIC request. An Amazon recap in Seller Forums said sellers typically get about 30 days of notice. Go by the Address issue by date in your own Account Health notice.

[05] Beyond one ASIN

When a Listing Problem Becomes an Account Problem

One deactivated ASIN is a nuisance. A pattern of them can put the whole selling account at risk. Amazon's Account Health Rating policy scores accounts from 0 to 1,000. A score of 200 or more is Healthy, 100 to 199 is At Risk, and 99 or lower means the account is eligible for deactivation or already deactivated. New sellers start at 200.

Repeat violations hurt faster. Amazon says the points for a violation rise each time the same policy is broken, and that an account can face immediate deactivation if it reaches the maximum number of repeat violations of one policy in a 180-day period, which can be as low as two for higher-severity violations. Restricted products, product safety and compliance, product detail page rules and the anti-counterfeiting policy are all on Amazon's list of policies included in the rating.

That is why a quick fix to one listing is not enough if the same disease word sits in ten other bullets. Clean the whole catalog when you fix the first one. Our guide to protecting Amazon account health covers the account side, and our Section 3 appeals playbook covers the most serious account-level cases.

How to Keep a Supplement Listing From Coming Down Again

Build the listing from the final label

Write titles, bullets and ingredient amounts from the printed Supplement Facts panel, not from a formula sheet or a competitor. Our supplement listing optimization guide has allowed and not allowed examples.

Keep certificates current

Amazon will not accept an expired cGMP certificate. SGS, an authorized provider, says verification is needed every year for each ASIN, and sooner if the formula, label or manufacturing site changes.

Match identifiers if you use Fast-Track

Compliance Fast-Track lets Amazon validate products certified by partners such as BSCG, Clean Label Project, GRMA, INFORMED, NSF, SGS and USP. The product details at the certifier have to match your listing. Sources disagree on whether Fast-Track covers the five higher-risk testing categories: BSCG and AHPA say it does not, while NSF says NSF/ANSI 173 certification counts, so get your certifier's answer for your category in writing.

Check Account Health weekly

Amazon says any product can be selected for periodic or surveillance testing at any time, and the notice arrives in Account Health. A deadline you never saw is still a deadline.

Keep invoices on file

Save every finished-goods invoice from your manufacturer in a form Amazon accepts. Pulling them together after a complaint is slower than having them ready.

[07] Honest guidance

When to Get Help and When to Fix It Yourself

Most single-ASIN problems are fixable without anyone's help. A suppressed listing missing a unit count, a disease word in a bullet, or a TIC request where you already hold a current certificate is an hour or two of careful work in Seller Central. Read the notice, follow the steps above, and keep notes of what you changed.

Get a regulatory attorney when the question is legal: whether an ingredient is allowed, whether a claim is a disease claim, or whether you need FDA filings. Get ongoing help when the problem is volume or time: a catalog to clean, several ASINs flagged at once, a failed test you need to manage with your manufacturer while ads and Subscribe & Save keep running, or an account rating that is sliding.

Fix it yourself

One or two ASINs, a clear notice, documents in hand, and an Account Health rating that is still Healthy.

Talk to a regulatory attorney

Prohibited-ingredient questions, claims near the disease line, or a notice that cites an FDA warning letter or recall.

Bring in a brand manager

Many ASINs to rewrite, images and A+ to rebuild, and deadlines to track while the business keeps selling.

How Evolve Gets Supplement Listings Back in Line

Evolve Media Agency was founded in 2017 by Ian Smith, who has sold on Amazon since 2015. We are a husband-and-wife team in Colorado backed by AI agents, working with Amazon, Shopify and TikTok Shop brands, including supplement brands such as Liquid Health and Purely Optimal. We fix the listing side of a deactivation: titles, bullets, A+ and backend terms rewritten inside Amazon's claim rules, ingredient amounts matched to the panel, and label images that meet the image rules. We do not run tests, create COAs or certificates, or write legal opinions; those come from your manufacturer, your TIC provider and your attorney.

Listing optimization is $495 per listing, and graphic design for main images, infographics and Premium A+ runs $295, $495 or $595. For brands that want one person watching Account Health, tracking deadlines and keeping the catalog clean, our supplement brand management plans are paid upfront monthly and run month to month: Brand Support 5 hours for $750, Brand Manager 10 hours for $1,250, Brand Manager Plus 20 hours for $2,000, and Full Brand Management 40 hours for $3,600. Hours do not roll over, and extra work is $150 an hour. See the pricing page for everything else.

[11] FAQ

Common Questions

Why was my supplement listing deactivated on Amazon?
As of October 2026, the usual causes are a disease or drug claim, a missing or failed third-party verification, ingredient amounts that do not match the Supplement Facts panel, missing label images or attributes, an expiration problem, a prohibited ingredient, or an authenticity complaint. Account Health or Manage All Inventory shows the specific reason for each ASIN, and that reason decides the fix.
What is the difference between a suppressed and a deactivated listing?
A suppressed listing is hidden from search because detail page information is missing, such as an image, title or unit count; you fix it in Manage All Inventory under Activate listings. A deactivated listing was taken down for a policy or compliance reason shown in Account Health, and usually needs a listing correction, verification through a testing provider, or an appeal.
How long does Amazon take to reinstate a supplement listing?
Amazon does not publish one timeline. SGS, an authorized testing provider, says listing status usually updates within 24 to 48 hours after results are submitted, and testing typically takes two to four weeks after samples arrive. Amazon's Seller Forums recap says products delisted under the supplement policy are reinstated once compliance is confirmed.
Can I appeal a supplement deactivation?
Yes, in Account Health, but only when you believe the rule does not apply, such as a product wrongly classified as prohibited or as a supplement. Amazon's policy says not to use the prohibited-product appeal for compliance requirements. If the problem is a missing certificate or failed test, the path is verification through an authorized provider, not an appeal.
What invoices does Amazon want for an authenticity complaint?
Amazon asks for supplier invoices dated within 365 days before the notice, showing supplier name, phone, address and website and quantities that cover your sales and stock for the cited ASINs. You may hide prices. It will not accept pro forma invoices, quotes, self-issued invoices, or editable or altered files, and they must be uploaded in Seller Central.
Can disease words in backend keywords get a supplement removed?
Yes. Amazon's dietary supplements policy lists disease names in keywords as a prohibited claim, alongside disease claims in titles, bullets and images. Shoppers never see backend terms, but Amazon's systems do, so remove every disease name from search terms when you clean a listing.
Can Evolve Media fix my deactivated supplement listing?
We fix the listing side: claims, keywords, A+ and images rewritten inside Amazon's rules, at $495 per listing for optimization or inside a monthly plan from $750. We cannot create test results or certificates or give legal advice. Email [email protected] or text 719-257-3557 with the ASIN and notice.
